European Judicial Network (EJN)

The EU's European Judicial Network (EJN) aims to foster judicial cooperation between EU member states in criminal matters and to provide information and advice on mutual legal assistance to legal practitioners. The website outlines the judicial systems of 35 European countries, including all the EU member states. Legal forms are provided and there is a large amount of information about the European Arrest Warrant. There is a multilingual legal glossary (SOLON) and a link to a page of international legal instruments concerning police and judicial cooperation.

Website of the Spanish Ministry of Justice, providing detailed information about the administration of justice, services for citizens and other matters. The Documentation and Publications page, under 'Servicios al ciudadano', includes Spanish codes and laws translated into English and other languages, as well as a catalogue of departmental publications. Alberta Law Reform Institute

Website for the Alberta Law Reform Institute, formed in 1968 by agreement and cooperation between the Province of Alberta, the Law Society of Alberta, and the University of Alberta, and previously known as the Institute of Law Research and Reform. The Institute is exceptional in involving government, academics and the legal profession in the law reform and review process from the very beginning, and conducts research into law and the administration of justice, and makes recommendations on matters of law reform.

Web pages of the Finnish Ministry of Justice in Helsinki. The pages are in Finnish, and some pages are in English or Swedish. The Ministry is responsible for legal policy, statute policy and the administration of justice in Finland. Particular duties of the Ministry include the drafting of laws, safeguarding the work of the judiciary, the punishment of offenders, and participating in the making of EU legislation. Ministry of Justice Japan

Website of the Japanese Ministry of Justice, the government department with primary responsibility for maintaining the rule of law and legal order in Japan. In particular it is concerned with immigration, nationality, prosecution of criminal cases, the treatment of offenders, protecting the rights of citizens, family registration and registration of real estate. The site offers some historical background on the administration of justice in Japan since the end of the Second World War.

Website of the Attorney General's Office. The Attorney General and Solicitor General are the chief legal advisers to the government and deal with questions of law arising on government bills and with issues of legal policy. The site has information about all areas of the Attorney General's work, details of Freedom of Information requests and copies of the Attorney General's Guidelines on the law relating to prosecutions. There are also press releases, recent speeches of the Law Officers and a page of links to other government law sites.
