Center for Empirical Research in the Law

The Center for Empirical Research in the Law (CERL) at Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, Missouri, is concerned with the study of law and legal institutions using quantitative research methods. Martin-Quinn Scores

Website of the Martin-Quinn scores project at the Center for Empirical Research in the Law (CERL) at Washington University School of Law. The Martin-Quinn scores have been developed by Andrew D. Martin (Washington University) and Kevin M. Quinn (Harvard University) to measure judicial ideology and increase understanding of the politics of the Supreme Court. The site provides an introduction to the project, datasets showing the Martin-Quinn scores from October 1937 onwards and guidance on how to replicate this analysis.

Empirical Research Group

ABA Journal

Online version of the ABA Journal, the journal of the American Bar Association. Members of the ABA can access issues from 2004 to the present. Non-members can access ABA podcasts and view a limited amount of journal content. 

Worklife Law

WorkLife Law is a non-profit research and advocacy centre based at the University of California, Hastings College of Law. Worklife Law is concerned discrimination against workers with family responsibilities including pregnant women, parents and those with ageing parents or sick partners.

National Women's Law Center

Website of the National Women's Law Center (NWLC), a US-based organisation concerned with using litigation and law reform to improve the lives of low-income women and their families. Policy documents and news items are provided on issues such as: childcare and early education; poverty and income support; gender equity in education; workplace fairness and flexibility; affordable healthcare; reproductive rights; judges and the courts; retirement security and taxation. The site also has background information about the Center and details of its publications and campaigns.

Center for Air and Space Law

The Center for Air and Space Law at the University of Mississippi carries out research and teaching on aviation and space law. Its website has details of its events, courses, publications and staff. The Journal of Space Law is available on an open access basis from volume 1 (1973) onwards, except for the latest two issues; there is also information about the Journal of Drone Law and Policy, which was launched in 2020.

Space Policy Institute

The Space Policy Institute at George Washington University is concerned with research and teaching on space policy issues in the United States. Its website provides information on courses and profiles of faculty members. It also makes available videos, articles, book chapters and reports on space law by faculty members, together with details of books.
