British Polygraph Society

The British Polygraph Society is a membership body for accredited polygraph examiners. Its website provides information on polygraph science and its practice. Open access articles concerned with polygraph science are available, along with information on the accuracy and validity of polygraph testing. Information is given on the Society, including its professional code of ethics, standards of practice and constitution. A page of web links is also provided.

Transparency Project

The aim of the Transparency Project is to improve public understanding of the family justice system in England and Wales. Its website provides a range of guidance notes that explain issues relating to family law and the family courts. Topics covered include common law marriage, remote court hearings and the use of experts in family court cases. There is a blog with updates on cases in the family courts. Information is also provided for journalists and bloggers, including a guide to the rules on reporting family court proceedings.

Child Protection Resource

Child Protection Resource is a site providing information about the child protection system and law in the UK; it is aimed at professionals and users of the service and is written by family lawyer Sarah Phillimore. The site explains key elements of the practice area, such as Secure Accommodation Orders, Section 20 Agreements, and commonly used orders, such as Interim Care Orders and Special Guardianship Orders.

LexisNexis Blogs

This section of the LexisNexis website hosts blogs on a range of practice areas, including dispute resolution, the future of law, corporate law, family law, financial services, insolvency law and the built environment. Contributors include practising lawyers and LexisNexis' editors.

Legal Futures

Legal Futures is a news website looking at market intelligence and developments in the legal market.
The site includes legal news stories and features, with sections focusing on legal practice management and regulation. Details of future events, along with videos from past events, are available on the site and reports - covering subjects such as the law firm of the future and the impact of technology - can be freely downloaded. A services directory providing contact details of companies can be browsed by sector. 

Legal Software Suppliers Association

Website of the Legal Software Suppliers Association (LSSA), the industry body for legal systems developers and vendors in the UK. The site has links to members’ websites, a copy of the LSSA code of conduct and details of working parties. There is a white paper on data conversion which provides guidance for law firms changing from one software system to another. News items and a page of related web links are also given.

Institute of Legal Finance and Management

Website of the Institute of Legal Finance & Management (ILFM), a not-for-profit membership organisation for legal finance, administration and practice management professionals including legal cashiers and accounts managers. Details of professional qualifications provided by the ILFM are given on the site along with information on CPD training, conferences and other events. There is a guide to legal software providers and a page of related web links. Other content on the site is restricted to members only, eg.

Computer Evidence

The Computer Evidence website provides information on cases relating to the Computer Misuse Act 1990. It is compiled by Michael J L Turner, a forensic computer examiner and expert witness on computer evidence. The table of cases includes the name of the case, date and court details where the case was heard, a brief description of the case and links to media coverage. The site also includes details of other services provided by Michael J L Turner.

Law Society: Research Guides

Collection of online legal research guides provided by the Law Society Library and made freely available on its website. The guides look at finding resources such as journal articles, treaties, law reports and legislation; how to research Scottish or Irish law; and how to trace past solicitors and law firms. The guides refer to resources held by the Law Society Library, subscription and free internet resources and details of relevant organisations.

Lawyer Portal

The Lawyer Portal is a free resource provided by The Career Portal, in partnership with the Bar Council and the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, and aimed at anyone considering a career in law. The site has free guides covering topics of interest to sixth formers, university students and graduates including law apprenticeships, choosing a university course, work experience and pupillage. These are written by professional lawyers and education experts. The site also offers career tips, details of events, free learning materials and teachers’ guides.
