Irish Treaty Series

This treaty database, maintained by the Department of Foreign Affairs in Ireland, contains entries for all instruments published in the Irish Treaty Series since 1930. Records are typically composed of the ITS number, the title of the agreement, the parties, whether it was bilateral or multilateral, the date signed and the date in force. Full-text PDFs are available for all the treaties since 1998, however only a limited number of treaties prior to this include the full text.

Tech Law Blog

A blog written by law professionals from A&L Goodbody LLP, detailing current affairs concerning intellectual property and technology law in judicial, government and legislative bodies in Ireland. Information such as judgments, appointment announcements, and commentaries on intellectual property and technology law are available, as well as posts containing updates on access to material. For instance, publications of acts are announced along with links and short summaries. No registration required, and available in English only.

Legal Frameworks for Nuclear Activities

This part of the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) site provides information on the legal frameworks for nuclear activities in OECD and NEA member and partner countries. Country profiles cover a range of topics including the regulatory regime, regulatory authorities and advisory bodies. There is information on nuclear installations, radioactive waste management, radioactive substances and equipment, non-proliferation and transport. Links are given to primary legislation and to other NEA publications. The NEA is part of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

Brexit Legal (An Irish Guide)

Brexit Legal is a guide for Irish businesses, compiled by Irish law firm, McMahon Legal. It covers customs procedures and forms, rules of origin, free movement and the EU customs code. There is a section on Brexit issues relating to Northern Ireland and background information on EU law and EU institutions.

Irish Innocence Project

Website of the Irish Innocence Project, based at the Law School at Griffith College in Dublin. The Project’s aim is to assist people who believe they have been the victim of a miscarriage of justice and who have exhausted other legal remedies Their cases are investigated by law students under the supervision of qualified solicitors and barristers. There are free articles to download and a blog giving updates on the project and recent cases.

House of Oireachtas

The website of the National Parliament (Oireachtas) of Ireland. The Houses of Oireachtas consists of the President and two Houses: Dáil Éireann (House of Representatives) and Seanad Éireann (the Senate). The website contains information about the House of Oireachtas and parliamentary business including online debates, bills and legislation, questions and information on its committees. Other features include educational material, a live streaming service, research publications and information on parliamentary inquiries. Text is available in English or Gaelic.

Irish legal history: an overview and guide to the sources

A bibliographic essay compiled by Janet Sinder, originally published in Law Library Journal in 2001. The essay is made available via BrooklynWorks, the scholarly repository of Brooklyn Law School. The essay lists sources for researching Irish legal history from the earliest days of the Brehon legal system to the date of publication. Brief explanations of the Irish legal system are provided.
