Netherlands Helsinki Committee

Website of the Netherlands Helsinki Committee (NHC), a non-governmental organisation promoting human rights, democracy and the rule of law in Europe and in Central Asian countries that are members of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). The NHC supports the work of international and national governmental and non-governmental organisations including the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the International Helsinki Federation for Human Rights. Its activities include fact-finding missions, lobbying and various projects.

European Roma Rights Center

The European Roma Rights Center (ERRC) monitors the human rights situation of Roma in Europe and offers legal defence to Romani victims in cases of human rights abuse. The organisation also publishes news about Romani civil rights and human rights abuses relating to Roma. The ERRC website provides the Center's quarterly newsletter Roma Rights, together with ERRC publications on Roma listed by country, region and theme. The site is in English, with some materials in Romani or Russian.

Europe and Eurasia Program

The Europe and Eurasia Program is an initiative of the American Bar Association's Center for Global Programs. It gives technical legal assistance to countries in Central and Eastern Europe and Eurasia, with a view to strengthening the rule of law, with projects focusing on internet freedom, commercial law, combating corruption and strengthening judicial systems. The Program's website provides news, research papers and details of activities in each country.

Gender equality

Council of Europe factsheet focusing on judgments of the European Court of Human Rights dealing with human rights violations affecting women. It comments on important cases dealing with domestic violence, discrimination against single mothers, the right to keep a maiden name, protection of physical integrity and protection against trafficking in human beings. Links are given to CoE web pages dealing with gender equality and to the judgments mentioned in the factsheet.

Amsterdam Law Forum

The Amsterdam Law Forum is an open access journal produced by the Law Faculty at VU University in Amsterdam. The journal is published quarterly and contains articles on contemporary international, European and comparative law, scientific papers and book reviews.

European Journal of Legal Studies

The European Journal of Legal Studies (EJLS) is an open access peer-reviewed electronic journal covering comparative, international and European law and legal theory.  It was launched by the Law Department of the European University Institute in April 2007. EJLS is a multilingual publication, but a large proportion of the articles are in English. It can be browsed by issue and there is also a search facility.

LSE Law Working Papers

This working paper series was started in 2007 by the Law Department of the London School of Economics (LSE). Originally called the 'Law, Society and Economy Working Paper Series', it publishes interdisciplinary legal scholarship by members of the department. The entire series is available to browse and download. It is also possible to sign up for free email delivery (all papers, or papers on subjects of interest).

CODICES

The CODICES database was created by the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission). It provides key judgments from the constitutional courts of European countries, the European Court of Human Rights and the Court of Justice of the European Union. There is background information on each constitutional court, with details of powers, composition and organisation, as well as basic texts relating to the court. The constitutions of all member states of the Council of Europe and national laws relating to constitutional courts are also given.

EUREL

The EUREL website compiles information about the social and legal status of religions in more than 30 European countries, plus Canada.
