FLAG Foreign Law Guide

FLAG is a searchable directory of foreign and international law holdings in UK libraries. It helps to identify the best locations for particular materials and so makes foreign and international law more accessible to researchers. The database can be searched by jurisdiction, type of legal literature, and/or region of the UK in which the material is available. The FLAG website also provides background information, reports and other documentation, together with details of database updates.

Gambling Commission

The Gaming Commission (formerly know as the Gaming Board of Great Britain) is responsible for the regulation of gambling in the UK. This covers all forms of lotteries, gaming machines, betting, casinos, bingo and the National Lottery. The website provides free access to information about the remit and activities of the Commission. It includes press releases, regulations, legislation and information on licenses relating to all forms of gambling. The site also includes some government sponsored research papers on problem gamblers and gambling addiction.

Hansard

The official report of the proceedings of the UK Parliament, known as Hansard, available on the Parliament website. House of Commons debates, statements and written answers are provided from November 1988 onwards and House of Lords debates, statements and so on from November 1995 onwards; there is also a link to an archive of digitised Hansard from 1803 to 2005. Hansard on the Parliament website may be browsed by date, MP or peer and other criteria, but there is no search facility.

Irish Competition Authority decisions

A BAILII database of full-text decisions of the Irish Competition Authority (established on 1st October 1991 under the Competition Act 1991). Decisions are available from 1992 to 2001 and can be browsed alphabetically or by date. They can also be searched using the site's search engine. Irish Information Commissioner's Decisions

A BAILII database containing full-text decisions of the Irish Information Commissioner from 1998 onwards. The information has been made available by the Office of the Information Commissioner in Dublin. Cases can be browsed alphabetically by party name or chronologically by year or searched using BAILII's comprehensive search facility. Foundation for Information Policy Research

The Foundation for Information Policy Research (FIPR) is a UK organisation that works in the area of "... promoting, encouraging, commissioning and conducting research into the present and possible future effects on the general public (including economic, social and moral effects and effects on health and well-being) of developments in information technology ... " The organisation has an independent board of trustees and an advisory council that includes members from both the academic and private sectors.

Court of Appeal in Northern Ireland Decisions

A collection of cases from the Northern Ireland Court of Appeal, available free of charge in full-text on BAILII (the British and Irish Legal Information Institute). Cases are listed alphabetically for browsing by party name or by date. They can also be searched by keyword using the BAILII site search engine. They are available for 1998 onwards. High Court of Ireland Decisions

A BAILII database containing full-text HTML decisions from the Irish High Court. Decisions are available from 1997 onwards and there are landmark decisions dating back to 1933. The data is provided by the Irish Court Service. Supreme Court of Ireland Decisions

This BAILII (British and Irish Legal Information Institute) website provides free access to decisions of the Irish Supreme Court from 1998 onwards. The cases can be browsed alphabetically by party name or by date. The site features a sophisticated search facility supporting searches of this and other databases available on the site. Decisions are published in full-text HTML format, with links to the relevant legislation. Also included are a number of earlier landmark decisions taken from the University College Cork, Law Faculty's Leading Irish Cases database.

Irish legislation

A BAILII database of statutes passed by the Oireachtas, the Irish Parliament, from 1922 onwards. Acts are listed alphabetically and by year and there is also a search facility. The collection is made freely available on the internet as part of the British and Irish Legal Information Institute service.
