Government of Norway

Official website of the Norway government which provides access to all government ministries and the Prime Minister’s office. Details of the government including a list of MPs are given along with information on the governments of Norway going back to 1814. There are links to government documents including white papers, consultations and committee reports. A link is given to Lovdata where Norwegian legislation can be viewed. The site can be viewed in Norwegian, Icelandic and English.

Palestinian Centre for Human Rights

The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights was founded by Palestinian lawyers and human rights activists in 1995. It aims to promote the causes of human rights, the rule of law, democratic institutions and Palestinian independence. The Centre’s website can be read in English or in Arabic and features press releases, reports, position papers, and statistics. This material focuses on human rights violations and the weakening of democratic institutions by Israeli Occupation Forces and also by Hamas and Fatah.

Palestinian Basic Law

This unaffiliated website was created by Norwegian journalists Erik Bolstad and Tonje Merete Viken in February 2008. The site provides English translations of past and present versions of the Basic Law and drafts that were not passed. It also links to English translations of the Elections law and Presidential decrees as well as expert opinions on issues surrounding Palestinian elections.

Childwatch International Research Network

Childwatch International Research Network is a global network of organisations doing interdisciplinary research in the area of children’s rights. The Childwatch Secretariat is based at the University of Oslo in Norway. The website carries details of Childwatch’s projects and research work. Topics covered include child labour, children and children’s rights and child poverty. A selection of reports can be downloaded from the site.

University of Oslo Faculty of Law Library

Web pages for the Library serving the Faculty of Law in the University of Oslo, providing access to the BIBSYS consortium library catalogue, other bibliographic databases as well as commentary and research guidance on the legal information system in Norway. The site also presents information about the library, opening hours, loan policy, inter-library loans and other services such as electronic journals and student information. The site features a bulletin board, search facility with links to Norwegian legislation in English translation and Norwegian law gateways.

Norge.no

An official service established by the Norwegian central government authorities and the board of the Norwegian Association of local and regional authorities to provide free access to public sector information and services on the Internet supplied by Norway's public bodies at state, county and municipal levels. The service is designed for use by the general public and government officials. The service links particularly to information and statements about the Government, Parliament, Supreme Court, Immigration policy and Labour policy.

Juridisk Nettviser

A resource site and Internet gateway service giving access in particular to Norwegian primary and secondary legal materials on the Internet as well as providing comprehensive link collections covering other Nordic countries (including Denmark, Finland, Greenland, Iceland and Sweden, other jurisdictions round the world and international and European law in general.) The service has been developed as a joint project by the Law faculties at the Universities of Oslo, Bergen and Tromso in Norway.

Translated Norwegian Legislation

A searchable Web database providing free access to full-text Norwegian legislation (acts and regulations) in English translation. Legislation may be searched by date, number or words in the title. On screen help is offered on making searches. The database indicates dates, document numbering, language and format of the available translations. The translations are unofficial documents and only updated at the time of translation. Possible formats for linked texts include: HTML, PDF or Word. Bibliographic information is given for acts unavailable in electronic format.

Lovdata

This free website provides Norwegian consolidated statutes, central regulations, recommendations and local regulations; the official gazette, 'Norsk lovtidende'; and cases from the last four months in the Supreme Court (Høyesterett) and appeal courts (lagmannsrettane). It also has a large set of English translations of statutes, regulations, plus one translated Supreme Court judgment. Lovdata is a private foundation set up by the Norwegian Ministry of Justice and the Faculty of Law at the University of Oslo.
