Chicago International Dispute Resolution Association

Website of the Chicago International Dispute Resolution Association (CIDRA), a non profit organisation established in 1997 aiming to be a neutral forum for the management, resolution and prevention of trans-national commercial disputes in Illinois. The site provides information about CIDRA's objectives, services and training courses, accompanied by profiles of CIDRA approved arbitrators and mediators. The site publishes the text of the rules governing CIDRA's administration of arbitrations and mediations, articles and model clauses.

September 11th sourcebooks

A major digital library of documents relating to the September 11 terrorist attacks created and maintained by the National Security Archive, George Washington University. Their main strength is is publishing declassified security documents from the American government. These include the complete air-ground transcripts of the hijacked 9/11 flight recordings as well as numerous White House memos and briefings relating to the 'war against terrorism'. Material is being continuously added to the site.

International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution

Website of the International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution (CPR), a US based organisation founded to advocate the use of alternative dispute resolution in mainstream law firm practice. The organisation's membership consists of global corporations, law firms, legal academics and related public institutions and it is responsible for an ongoing programme of research, development and education to promote ADR. The site provides further information about the history, mission and membership of the Institute, alongside news of current activities and contact details.

Guide to drafting alternative dispute resolution (ADR) clauses published on the website of the American Arbitration Association (AAA), a non profit organisation dedicated to developing and promoting ADR methods and approaches. This guide aims to steer the user through the drafting process step-by-step. It provides a checklist for the drafter, a discussion of the key features of arbitration, clauses approved by the AAA, and other provisions that might be considered. The guide concludes with a brief list of suggestions for further reading. It is available in PDF format.

Digital Millennium Copyright Act Study

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) was enacted into law in the United States on October 28 1998. Section 104 of the DMCA required the US Copyright Office to carry out this study, which is now published on their website. The study seeks to evaluate the relationship between technological change and copyright law, focusing on copyright related issues such as first sale doctrine, temporary incidental copies and archival copying of computer programmes. Feedback on these issues from the library community, publishers and private citizens forms part of the study. 

Fedflix: free film from US government

FedFlix, available from the Internet Archive, was a collaboration between the US National Technical Information Service and Public.Resource.Org. It provides free access to films from branches of the American government, including public information films and historic film clips and footage from the National Archives, the Department of War, the United States Forest Service, the Federal Civil Defense Administration and other departments. The site, which was archived in 2008, includes information on sources, copyright and technical details.
