There is also a comprehensive collection of web links to Lithuanian legal resources. Most of the site is presented in Lithuanian with an English interface.

Constitution of Lithuania

This site contains the full-text of the Lithuania Constitution made freely available in English by International Constitutional Law (ICL) at the University of Bern in Switzerland. The Constitution was adopted in 1992 and covers the individual and the state, society and the state, national economy and labour, Parliament, the President of the Republic, the government, the courts, the Constitutional Court, local government, finance and foreign affairs.

World Legal Information Institute Catalog : Eastern Europe

This website is part of the World Legal Information Institute's Catalog of websites. Under each country there are standard headings for courts and case law, government, legislation, lawyers etc. In addition there are more detailed subject headings (Banking and Finance law or intellectual property for example) which vary from country to country. It is also possible to search for terms across the whole Eastern European section. Suggestions for new links can be submitted by email. The site is in English, with Babel Fish Translation available.

Lithuanian Association of Judges

Website of the Lithuanian Association of Judges (LAJ) a non-profit organisation established in 1993 to represent judges and secure the independence of the judiciary in the Republic of Lithuania. The site provides profiles of the members of the Board of the LAJ, copies of the association's Statutes and Judicial Ethics Code and details of their meetings, seminars, conferences and other activities. The site is available in Lithuanian only. A page of links to other Lithuanian legal sites is also given.

President of the Republic of Lithuania

Official website of the President of the Republic of Lithuania The site provides a profile of the President and first lady. There is information about the President's activities including copies of speeches, press releases, interviews and details of visits. The site has background information to the legal framework of the Presidency which covers the election of the president, the powers of the president and the presidential household. The site also includes historical information and photographs of the Presidential Palace. The site is available in Lithuanian and English.

Government of the Republic of Lithuania

Official website of the Lithuanian Government. This site includes a profile of the Prime Minister and other ministers and links to the various government departments. There is a database of Lithuanian laws and other legal documents going back to 1883. These can be searched by institution document type, date, language and various other parameters. The records provide the full-text of the law in HTML or Word and there are links to related documents. Laws are available in a range of languages but most appear in either English, Russian or Lithuanian.

Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Lithuania

Official website of the Lithuanian Ministry of Justice. The site has an article giving a brief history of the Lithuanian legal system and a list of Ministers of Justice since 1990. Brief information is given on the Ministry's work in various areas including criminal justice, legislative process, consumer rights protection and registration of political parties. There are contact details (including web links) to institutions subordinate to the Ministry such as the Prisons Department, the State Patent Bureau and the Law Institute. The site is available in English and Lithuanian.

The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania

The website of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania is available in both English and Lithuanian. It contains information about the Court including details of its functions and powers, proceedings and judges, and the text its rulings, decisions and conclusions from 1993 onwards. The site has statistics on petitions and inquiries received at the Court from 1993 onwards and text of the Constitution and the Law on the Constitutional Court. A list of publications of the Court and links to other sites containing Lithuanian legal information are also provided.

Guide to the Lithuanian Legal System

A research and resource guide offering an introduction to law and the legal system in Lithuania, describing sources of law including free internet sources and materials in English. The guide has been prepared by Elona Norvaisaite, reference librarian at the Law and Politics Reading Room of the Information Center of the National Library of Lithuania. The guide was published in 2005 and updated in 2023 on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law.
