League of Nations Archives

Comprehensive digitised archives of the League of Nations (predecessor of the UN). Includes all documents produced or received by the League of Nations from 1919 to 1946, material relating to the refugee work of Fridtjof Nansen, and documents of external bodies established by the League. Digitised maps, sound recordings and photographs are available as well as text documents, and each item has been catalogued in detail. Basic and advanced search facilities are provided and the material can also be browsed by category.

Legal Frameworks for Nuclear Activities

This part of the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) site provides information on the legal frameworks for nuclear activities in OECD and NEA member and partner countries. Country profiles cover a range of topics including the regulatory regime, regulatory authorities and advisory bodies. There is information on nuclear installations, radioactive waste management, radioactive substances and equipment, non-proliferation and transport. Links are given to primary legislation and to other NEA publications. The NEA is part of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

An Introduction to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation

Online research guide to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) written by Shaher Awawdeh who is the OIC’s Deputy Permanent Observer to the United Nations. The guide was published in 2020 on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law. The OIC is an intergovernmental organisation with 57 member countries. The guide gives background and historical information about the OIC and reasons for its establishment in 1969.

North Atlantic Treaty Organization

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is a political and military alliance between North America and Europe. Its aim is to maintain peace and stability through cooperative action. The NATO website contains information about the Organization’s purpose, structure and activities. The North Atlantic Treaty and its protocols are available, together with NATO ministerial communiqués (1949 onwards) and other official documents. The site also provides news, transcripts of speeches and an online bookshop.

ILO Research Guide

An online research guide providing commentary, bibliographic references and Web links relating to the history, structure and work of the International Labour Organization, the international organization concerned with employment and working conditions and wider issues of social justice and human rights. The guide was compiled by Charlotte Bynum and is available on the Cornell Law Library website. The author gives an introduction to the ILO, its mission and organisation; with explanatory notes and sources covering conventions and recommendations and cases and reports.

NATLEX database

NATLEX is a database of information about national labour, social security and related human rights laws in over 190 countries and more than 160 territories. It is maintained by the International Labour Organization's International Labour Standards Department. The records which make up the database are written by legal professionals; they consist of abstracts and bibliographic details, with links to the full text of the laws where possible. NATLEX can be browsed by country or by subject and has a sophisticated search facility.

International Organization of Securities Commissions

Website of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), which oversees the supervision of financial services industries around the world. The site describes the structure of the organization and its work and makes available IOSCO policy documents, press releases, speeches, annual reports and other materials. It also provides a directory of national authorities which are members of IOSCO.

Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering

Website of the Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering (FATF), the intergovernmental body aiming to promote policies to combat money laundering at both national and international levels. The site describes the function and current work of the task force with an overview and explanation of money laundering issues. There is organisational and membership information about FATF along with FATF's 40 recommendations of counter-measures against money laundering and related documentation. There is an online newsletter and a page of related web links.

International Institute for the Unification of Private Law

Website of the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT), an independent intergovernmental organisation based in Rome. The site presents information on the work of UNIDROIT and makes available the texts of its model laws and conventions (with status information). UNIDROIT proceedings and papers are provided from 1994 onwards and there is a searchable and browsable index to the organisation's journal, Uniform Law Review, from 1974 onwards.

World Intellectual Property Organization Arbitration and Mediation Center

Internet site for the World Intellectual Property Organization's Arbitration and Mediation Center. The Center was established in Geneva, Switzerland in 1994 to offer dispute resolution advisory services, particularly in international commercial disputes between private parties. The site publishes information about the Center, its work in arbitration and mediation and its staff. There are sections offering information on arbitration, mediation, expert determination and domain name dispute resolution. The sections include general information, decisions, fees and rules.
