Buffalo Criminal Law Center

The website of the Buffalo Criminal Law Center provides an overview of the Center's mission, programmes of study, and research activities. The center is based at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law and aims to help students in their advanced research into criminal law, as well as acting as an advisory body to US state and federal legislatures about criminal justice issues. The site gives details of the Herbert Wechsler National Criminal Law Moot Court Competition, and the Center's own LL.M. programme in Criminal Law.

Transcrime

Transcrime, the Research Centre on Transnational Crime, is based in the Department of Law at the University of Trento in Italy.  Its website gives an overview of the Centre's projects. The Publications page provides some titles in full and others with abstracts only. The site, including the publications, is in both English and Italian.

Restorative Justice Exchange

Information and resources about restorative justice, provided by Prison Fellowship International. The site gives an introduction to the concept of restorative justice and the Restorative Justice Handbook, by Jonathan Derby (Special Advisor to Prison Fellowship International) can be downloaded free of charge. There is also a blog and an archive of restorative justice publications, videos and other material; most of the archived documents are in English, but some are in Spanish, French and Russian.

England and Wales Court of Appeal (Criminal Division) Decisions

A BAILII database containing decisions of the Criminal Division of the Court of Appeal of England and Wales. Most of the cases are from the 1990s onwards, but some earlier decisions are available, back to 1964. Cases are listed by party name and year, and there is a search facility. The British and Irish Legal Information Institute (BAILII) provides free access to primary legal materials for the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland.

Judicial Greffe

Website for the States of Jersey Judicial Greffe, the government department responsible for providing "administrative and secretarial services to the Island's Courts" and delivering information services relating to the Courts to the legal profession and public. The site presents outline information on the role and work of each section comprising the Judicial Greffe, including the: Appellate section, Family section, Probate section, Public registry, and Samedi section, supported by online HTML versions of guidance notes issued by the department. Staff contact lists are also included.

Eucrim

Eucrim is a journal focusing on European criminal law, edited and made freely available online by the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Crime, Security and Law. Eucrim is published twice a year and is intended for both practitioners and academics. The site is in English and French and the journal is in English. Users can sign up for free email delivery.

National Institute of Corrections Library

This site provides access to the library of the National Institute of Corrections (NIC) which is an agency of the US Department of Justice. The library contains books, journals, newsletters and video and audio tapes along with unpublished materials produced by correctional agencies and all NIC publications. These materials include research reports and analyses, program descriptions and evaluations and training materials. The catalogue can be searched by keyword or browsed by subject heading.

Criminal Justice Profiles

Criminal Justice Profiles is a site providing information on careers in criminal justice and law enforcement in the United States. The site is intended for criminal justice professionals, job seekers and students. Profiles contain information on what the job involves, qualifications required and salaries. Careers profiled include police officer, prison warder, probation officer, CIA agent and court reporter along with less obvious careers including coast guard, fish and game warden and forensic accounting.

Justice Project

The Justice Project (TJP) is a Washington-based independent campaigning organisation which seeks to foster fairness and accuracy in criminal cases and advocates reform of the death penalty. The website has information on the staff and activities work of the TJP and provides its reports and recommendations, related publications and case studies. The National page has information and guidance on the Innocence Protection Act, which forms part of the Justice for All Act 2004 (HR 5107), and other federal matters. The States page covers TJP work in Texas, Georgia, Illinois and Tennessee.
