Comparative Competition Law Regimes in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Philippines, India and the United Kingdom

Australian Competition Tribunal

Website of the Australian Competition Tribunal which is a review body managed by the Federal Court of Australia. The Tribunal hears applications for review of determinations of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission concerning issues such as exclusive dealing and company mergers and acquisitions. The site includes a list of members, practice directions, links to full text competition legislation and documents relating to some of the cases being dealt with by the Tribunal. Full text decisions back to 1997 are also made freely available on the site.

Brexit Competition Law Working Group

Website of the Brexit Competition Law Working Group a policy group whose members include academics and legal practitioners concerned with competition law. The stated aim of the group is to “foster public debate and inform government policy on implications of Brexit for competition law and policy”. The Group have produced a paper setting out the key immediate and longer term issues the government needs to consider in relation to Brexit and competition law and have organised a number of roundtable events.

Competition and Markets Authority

This UK official body took over the functions of the Competition Commission and some of the functions of the Office of Fair Trading in 2014. Its work includes conducting inquiries into monopolies and mergers and prosecuting cartel offences. The website includes a database of cases as well as reports, consutation documents and press releases.

International Competition Network

Website of the International Competition Network (ICN) an informal, virtual network of competition agencies from 92 jurisdictions. The aim of the ICN is to promote “more efficient and effective antitrust enforcement worldwide to the benefit of consumers and businesses.” The site has a directory of members with contact details and links to websites. Details of work groups, which cover advocacy, agency effectiveness, cartels, mergers and unilateral conduct, are given along with links to handbooks and reports.

Autorita Garante Della Concorrenza e Del Mercato

Internet site for the independent body established by the Italian government to help regulate the application of fair competition practice rules, and adjudicate in cases of corporate breaches and cases of misleading advertising. The site explains how the Authority works, describing the organisation, operational structure and scope of its activities. A collection of news releases posted on the site in reverse chronological order, carries notes of Authority reports and relevant Italian legislation.

Irish Competition Authority decisions

A BAILII database of full-text decisions of the Irish Competition Authority (established on 1st October 1991 under the Competition Act 1991). Decisions are available from 1992 to 2001 and can be browsed alphabetically or by date. They can also be searched using the site's search engine. The British and Irish Legal Information Institute (BAILII) is a collaborative service aiming to provide public access to primary legal materials for the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland.

US Department of Justice Antitrust Division

US Department of Justice Antitrust Division contains a vast amount of information on legal cases involving monopolies and mergers. The site includes links and articles relating to current actions, public documents relating to ongoing cases and an introduction to the work of this division of the Department of Justice, and links to guidelines and statements on policy towards antitrust in various areas of the economy in the US.

Competition Authority

Official Website of the Irish Competition Authority (An tUdaras Iomaiochta), the "statutory body with a specific role to enforce Irish competition law". The site provides information on the background and structure or the Competition Authority and the work it carries out. The 'documents' section includes a complete collection of Competition Authority decisions along with reports, studies, discussion papers, submissions and notices. Documents are provided in full-text in PDF.
