Online guide to the Mongolian legal system written by Odgerel Tseveen who is a a Legal Counsel at the Mongolia Energy Corporation, Ganbold Battsetseg who was an attorney at Anderson &Anderson LLP and Badmaarag Shagdarsuren who is an officer of law at the Ministry of Defense in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The guide was published in 2006 (and updated in 2009) on the Globalex website and is made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law. The authors provide historical and background information to the Mongolian legal system and explain the role of the Constitution, statutes, customary law, international law and judicial practice as sources of law. There is an outline of the court system and information on the role of the various legal professionals including judges, prosecutors, advocates and notaries. Details of online and printed sources of legal information are also given.
