Online guide to the law and legal materials of Qatar written by Ahmed Khedr who is a Lecturer of Law and academic member of the European Corporate Governance Institute, the Egyptian Society of Political Economy and Statistics and Legislation and the Egyptian Society of International Law. The guide was published in 2009 (and updated in 2016) on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law. The guide gives an introduction and general history to Qatar and an outline of the Qatar legal system which is based on Sharia (Islamic law). There are sections covering the Constitution, the hereditary system of government and how laws are made. The author also covers the status and functions of the Amir, the Council of Ministers, the Advisory Council (Al-Shoura Council) and the judiciary and court system. Links are given to government, education and legal research sites for Qatar.
