Netherlands Senate

This is the English version of the Dutch Senate (Eerste Kamer der Staten-Generaal) website. There is information on the role of the Senate and how the bicameral system works in the Netherlands. The main role of the Senate is to scrutinise bills but the site outlines the other functions the house performs. There is a document setting out the rules of procedure of the Senate and links are given to the rest of the website which can be viewed in Dutch only.

Locating Foreign Civil Codes

Online guide to researching foreign civil codes written by Lyonette Louis-Jacques who is Foreign and International Law Librarian and Lecturer in Law at the University of Chicago Law School D'Angelo Law Library. The guide was published in August 2016 on LLRX.com. The author explains what a civil code is and provides information on various finding tools to help the legal researcher identify civil codes and guidance on how to use them. The guide refers to both free and subscription sites.

Mecha Justice: When Machines Think Like Lawyers

Online guide to robotics, technology and the law written by Ken Strutin who is Director of Legal Information Services at the New York State Defenders Association. The guide was published in September 2016 on LLRX.com. The author identifies and provides abstracts to books, reports, scholarly articles, organisations and events looking at the future of law and addressing questions such as ‘Can robots be lawers’. Links are provided to full text resources where available. LLRX.com (Law Library Resource Xchange) is a free online web journal for legal information professionals.

LandWise

The LandWise website is hosted by Resource Equity, a non-profit organisation whose aim is to advance women's right to land and resources. The database brings together legal materials, including codes, constitutions and legislation, as well as reports and articles relating to women’s land rights. Content can be searched by keyword and filtered by language, jurisdiction or material type. The full text content can be downloaded or viewed on the original website. A selection of practice guides focusing on land and property rights in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda is also provided.

NUS Libraries: Law in Singapore Guide

Page created by the National University of Singapore law library, providing annotated links to legislation, treaties and cases from Singapore and secondary sources relating to the law of Singapore. In addition the site provides links to research guides and tutorials covering the law of Singapore, created by NUS library staff; and a compilation of glossaries, indexes and legal research tools specific to Singapore law. The page can be accessed in English and is intended for law students and academics.

Ukrainian Law Firms

Online version of the publication Ukrainian Law Firms: A Handbook for Foreign Clients. The website provides information about Ukrainian law and lawyers. There is an overview of the law in a range of practice areas including banking, commercial, criminal, family, human right, property and tax law. Profiles of leading law firms and practitioners in Ukraine are also available. Earlier versions of the Handbook can be viewed back to 2009.

Brexit Essentials: Navigating Unchartered Seas: A Practical Guide for Businesses

Online guide to the implications of the vote by Britain to leave the European Union. The briefing has been written by staff at law firm Slaughter and May and is aimed at their business clients. The guide looks at risk assessment and monitoring covering issues such as investment, cash flow, regulatory obligations and contracts. The guide also looks at the impact of Brexit across a number of practice areas including dispute resolution, tax, pensions, intellectual property, environment and data protection.

Romanian Chamber of Deputies

Website of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania (Camera Deputa ilor) which is the lower house of the Romanian parliament. There is an introduction to how the Chamber of Deputies works with information on the role of the various committees and groups, the Speaker and members and other parliamentary activities. There is a full text copy of the Romanian Constitution. These parts of the site can be viewed in Romanian, English and French. Other sections of the site including parliamentary debates, bill tracking and links to legislation can be viewed in Romanian only.
