Netherlands Helsinki Committee

Website of the Netherlands Helsinki Committee (NHC), a non-governmental organisation promoting human rights, democracy and the rule of law in Europe and in Central Asian countries that are members of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). The NHC supports the work of international and national governmental and non-governmental organisations including the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the International Helsinki Federation for Human Rights. Its activities include fact-finding missions, lobbying and various projects.

Europe and Eurasia Program

The Europe and Eurasia Program is an initiative of the American Bar Association's Center for Global Programs. It gives technical legal assistance to countries in Central and Eastern Europe and Eurasia, with a view to strengthening the rule of law, with projects focusing on internet freedom, commercial law, combating corruption and strengthening judicial systems. The Program's website provides news, research papers and details of activities in each country.

British Institute of International and Comparative Law

The British Institute of International and Comparative Law (BIICL) is a London-based organisation focusing on international law, comparative law and the rule of law. BIICL was established in 1958, incorporating the Grotius Society and Society of Comparative Legislation. The BIICL website describes the institute's aims and activities, including research projects, publications, forums and events. A collection of articles is provided on the Insights page and there are brief details of the journal, International and Comparative Law Quarterly (ICLQ).

United Nations and the Rule of Law

This site is maintained by the United Nations to provide information and resources regarding its work on maintaining the rule of law. It offers UN press releases and a repository of UN documents including General Assembly resolutions, reports, norms and standards, guidance and training materials. Topics covered include the rule of law at national and international levels, constitution building, transitional justice, informal justice, peace building and international security.

World Justice Project

Website of the World Justice Project (WJP), a United States-based initiative, funded by foundations, professional firms, the American Bar Association and individual donors, concerned with strengthening the rule of law worldwide. The WJP's activities cover three main strands: global engagement, scholarship and the Rule of Law Index.

International Legal Assistance Consortium

Legacy website of the International Legal Assistance Consortium (ILAC), a rule of law NGO that was active from 2002 to 2025. An umbrella organisation of bar associations, law societies, individuals and other associations of legal and human rights experts, ILAC was concerned with the rebuilding of legal systems in post-conflict societies. Its website is being maintained as a repository for its research: reports, rule of law assessments, policy briefings and discussion papers.

Institute for Justice and Democracy in Haiti

The Institute for Justice and Democracy in Haiti (IJDH) provides information on human rights in Haiti, brings court cases and works with other human rights groups in Haiti and abroad. The site gives details of IJDH's activities regarding access to justice, immigration, Haitian democracy, accountability for abuses by international actors, women's rights, and human rights litigation. It also provides , news updates, statements, open letters and reports.

International Rule of Law Directory

Global directory of organisations working to support the rule of law, compiled by the International Bar Association (IBA). Ten areas of activity are covered: administration of justice; alternative dispute resolution; assisting lawyers and human rights defenders; assisting law schools and universities; legal protection of human rights; assisting police and prison workers; assisting refugees and asylum seekers; financial assistance to uphold the rule of law; promoting law reform; and research. The Directory can be searched or browsed.

LegalB

LegalB, run by Advocate Rita Felgate, audits South African legislation against rule of law principles. The Resources section of its website provides a collection of South African legislation and an overview of the sources of South African legislation from 1652 to 1994. The site also has a blog focusing on rule of law standards.

Uganda Law Society

Website of the Uganda Law Society, which represents the legal profession and promotes access to justice, human rights and the rule of law in Uganda. The site gives information about the structure and work of the organisation.
