Law Society of Jersey

The Law Society of Jersey is the governing body for both solicitors and advocates in Jersey. Office of Rail Regulation

The Office of Rail Regulation (ORR) is the independent government department responsible for the regulation of the railways in the United Kingdom. Its areas of responsibility include issuing licences to operate trains, ensuring competition in the provision of rail services and protection of passengers' interests. In addition to their role as economic regulator, ORR is the health and safety regulator for the rail industry. The website provides information on the role and work of the ORR. It includes the full-text of its most recent annual report, rail statistics and press notices.

Ofwat

Ofwat is the independent government watchdog for the water and sewage industry in England and Wales. Its website provides information on the role of the regulator as well as access to a large number its leaflets and consultation papers. These relate to issues such as competition and regulation in the water industry, the introduction of water meters, water bills and charging for water.

FDAReview.org : A Project of the Independent Institute

This website is concerned with the U.S. Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) and its control over the licensing of new drugs and devices. It has been written by two American academics associated with the Independent Institute, Dr D Klein and Dr A Tabarrok. The site contains an evaluation of the costs and benefits of FDA policy, a detailed history of the FDA, a review of the major plans for FDA reform, a glossary of terms, a collection of quotes from economists who have studied the FDA, and a bibliography.

Lawyers Defence Group

Website of the Lawyers Defence Group, an organisation providing advice and guidance for legal professionals on regulatory, conduct, practice, partnership and employment issues. The service is run by Richard Nelson LLP and Murdochs Solicitors. The site has information outlining the role of the various regulators including the Solicitors Regulation Authority, the Bar Standards Board and the Council for Licensed Conveyancers.

Legal Services Board

The Legal Services Board (LSB) is an independent body responsible for overseeing the regulation of solicitors, barristers, legal executives, licensed conveyors, patent and trade mark attorneys, law costs draughtsmen and notaries in England and Wales. The site provides research reports, data, policies and procedures, speeches, press releases and news items.

British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission

The British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission (BVI-FSC) is a regulatory authority. Its website lists regulated entities and provides policy information and guidance, details of the international sanctions regime and information about countering money laundering and terrorist financing. There is a collection of BVI legislation on money laundering, corporate structures, insolvency, insurance, trusts, virtual assets and other matters. Enforcement notices are available, together with forms, annual reports and other material.

Solicitors Regulation Authority

Website of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), which regulates solicitors in England and Wales. The site provides news, information and documentation for solicitors, the general public and those interested in qualifying as a solicitor. It includes a register of regulated solicitors, guidance on choosing and using a solicitor, and information about claiming compensation for money owed by a solicitor.
