Erasing history: ethnic cleansing in Kosovo (1999)

This site contains the full-text of a report released by the US Department of State in May 1999. It provides a chronology of the nature and extent of war crimes in the region after the departure of the OSCE Kosovo Verification Mission which had previously made regular human rights reports. Information available includes details of the extent of the atrocities, their location and type, covering such forms as detention, execution, rape and looting.

Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants

The Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants (JCWI) is an independent voluntary organisation which works to achieve justice for immigrants and asylum seekers to the United Kingdom (UK). In particular, it campaigns for reform to existing nationality and immigration law. Its website provides details of its current activities and forthcoming conferences and training events. It also contains factsheets on current British immigration and nationality law.

'Ever closer union' in need of a human rights policy: The European Union and human rights

This site contains the full-text of a Jean Monnet Working paper by Philip Alston and J.H.H. Weiler published by Harvard University in 1999. The document examines the existing strengths and weaknesses of human rights policy in Europe. In particular it focuses on the recognition of human rights issues in EU treaties and the current institutional arrangements. Criticisms of the current system are made. These include the belief that there is an excessive reliance on judicial remedies. Recommendations which include the establishment of new monitoring agencies are made.

Open to researchers and students, this list seeks to explore current issues and questions of the future relevance of the declaration & to be a general information resource. The site contains an archive of all messages submitted to the list (they are retained for 2 years) which can be interrogated using the free text or keyword search facility.

Coalition for the International Criminal Court

The Coalition for the International Criminal Court (CICC) is the primary NGO provider of online information about the International Criminal Court. There is a link to the International Criminal Court (ICC) website detailing stages in its implementation. The site provides organisational, historical and general information on the ICC along with details of updates and developments, current cases and situations.There are documents from the United Nations, governments and non-governmental organizations accessible on the site.

InterAction : American Council for Voluntary International Action

InterAction is a 'coalition of more than 150 non-profit organizations working worldwide and a leading advocate in the U.S. for humanitarian assistance to the world's poor.' The site includes information on the latest humanitarian emergencies, InterAction's Development Division projects, links to development-related and other external sites, extensive details of forthcoming events, InterAction publications and also access to many of the articles from 'Monday Developments' - InterAction's biweekly publication.

Womankind Worldwide

Womandkind Worldwide is a UK charity devoted to empowering women to to improve their lives and lift their families and communities out of poverty. Womankind works closely with 55 partner community groups in 15 developing countries and funds projects that address local issues. All projects involve familiarising women with their rights and enabling them to use their rights to benefit their daily lives; when necessary projects also lobby for new legislation to protect women or improve their status.

Academy of European Law

The Academy of European Law was established by the European University Institute (EUI) in 1990 to promote teaching and scholarship in the fields of European Union Law and Human Rights Law. It holds annual advanced-level courses on these subjects and publishes the content as Collected Courses of the Academy of European Law. Women's Human Rights Resources Programme

The Women's Human Rights Resources Programme is a database maintained by staff at Bora Laskin Law Library, University of Toronto. It contains articles and documents relating to women's human rights law, a collection of research guides and bibliographies, details of law courses in Canada relating specifically to women and a directory of women's rights organisations in Canada. Issues covered include: immigration, indigenous women's rights, violence against women, reproductive rights, feminist theory, religion and culture, race and gender, and domestic implementation of international law.
