Project Volterra

Description:

The website of Project Volterra is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Board and is based in the History Department of University College London. The aim of the project is to "promote the study of Roman legislation in its full social, political and legal context". This website provides access to the Project Volterra database containing "basic texts of imperial legal pronouncements, ancient interpretation of that material and reference to modern historical as well as legal commentary". The database is arranged in two parts, Law and Empire AD193- 455 and Law and the End of Empire. There is background information about the Project and a page of links to online resources about ancient, Roman law and early medieval law.
