This is a Human Rights Watch report on the first five years of the International Criminal Court (ICC). Human Rights Watch is an independent non-governmental organisation. The report looks at the accomplishments and shortcomings of the ICC since it began operations in 2003. There are chapters dealing with different aspects of the ICC's work including the Court's Chambers and its judges, the Office of the Prosecutor, defence and ensuring quality representation for defendents, the work of the field offices, outreach and communications, victim and witness support and protection, the role of victims in ICC proceedings and the cooperation and support of states parties.
