International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes

Website of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), which was established in 1966 under the Convention on the Settlement of Investment Disputes between States and Nationals of Other States. The site describes the history, mission and work of the organisation. It makes available the text of the Convention and a list of signatures and ratifications, as well as ICSID rules, regulations and model clauses. There is a database of pending and concluded cases as well as a database of basic information about bilateral investment treaties.

DEPOLIB - Depository Libraries of the United Nations System

This database provides a worldwide list of libraries which are depositories of official documents from the United Nations and organisations within the UN system including: the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), International Civil Aviation Organization; International Labor Organization, UNESCO and the World Bank. Each entry contains contact addresses, telephone numbers and links to websites where appropriate. The site can be searched or browsed, for example by country.

United Nations Documentation: a research guide

This site contains the full-text of a guide which was prepared by the United Nations Dag Hammarskjold Library and aims to provide an overview to the type of documents produced by the United Nations and how to trace them. It details the main types of documents issued by the General Assembly, the Security Council and the Economic and Social Council including resolutions, speeches, reports and press releases. It then describes the basic indexes which should be used to find particular types of material issued by the UN and its main bodies.

Legal 500

Online versions of Legalease's directories to the legal profession: Legal 500, Asia Pacific Legal 500 and the US Legal 500 and the Europe, Middle East and Africa Legal 500. The site lists legal practitioners and firms from all over the world, searchable by country and region. Overviews of the legal market in each country are given along with legal news and law firm news. There are articles on different specialisations within commercial law written by legal practitioners.

Black Lawyers Directory

Online directory that profiles black minority ethnic lawyers and organisations with at least one black minority ethnic lawyer. The website was launched in February 2006 and is hosted by Totally Management Ltd, a UK-based management consultancy. The Directory can be searched by region or practice area. The site includes news, careers information and a jobs page. There is also information on BLD's Legal Gateway Scheme which provides career development opportunities for students, schoolchildren, pupils, trainees and others interested in pursuing a career in law.

Website of Aviation Attorneys.com an online directory of aviation lawyers in the United States. The site is part of ExpertHub which provides directories for a range of professions The directory is not browsable but enables users to email aviation lawyers in their area. The site includes free articles on aviation law covering aviation accidents, airport complaints, aircraft licences and aviation injury claims.Users can post questions and comments on the site and there is a glossary of aviation law terms.

FLARE - Foreign Law Research

FLARE is a collaborative project whose aim is to improve the provision of foreign, comparative and international law materials to the UK research community. The project members are the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies Library, the Bodleian Law Library, the Squire Law Library, the British Library, and the School of Oriental and African Studies Library.

WATCH File

The WATCH File (Writers, Artists, and Their Copyright Holders) is a database providing contact details for copyright holders who have unpublished material in libraries in North America and the United Kingdom. WATCH is aimed at scholars who may wish to use this material. The database is produced jointly by the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center at The University of Texas and the University of Reading Library. WATCH is searchable by name and a number of search tips are provided.

Social Security Programs Throughout the World

A four volume series covering social security systems in Europe, Asia and the Pacific, Africa, and the Americas produced by the U.S. Social Security Administration (SSA) and the International Social Security Association (ISSA) and made freely available on the SSA Website. This reference work provides summaries of social security systems in individual countries which can be viewed in HTML or PDF. The entire report can be downloaded in PDF. Broad headings include old age, disability and survivors, sickness and maternity, work injury, unemployment and family allowances.

LLM-Guide.com

The LLM-Guide.com provides an online listing of the postgraduate Master of Laws courses currently offered by universities around the world. The site is sponsored by the Indiana University School of Law, Leiden University's Faculty of Law, the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center and other institutions. Law schools are arranged by region including the United States, Europe, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Africa and Asia. These regions are then sub-divided by country or state. Listings include contact details and a link to the course programme.
