International Telecommunication Union (ITU)

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is a specialized agency of the United Nations which acts to maintain and extend international cooperation in the standardization and improvement of all forms of telecommunication. Its website provides information on the history and membership of the ITU with the full-text of all its press releases from 1996 onwards. It also offers a calendar of forthcoming events, news cuttings relating to the telecommunications sector and information on world radio communication conferences.

Ofcom

Ofcom is a UK official body created in December 2003 from five former telecommunications watchdogs and regulatory authorities- the Broadcasting Standards Commission, Independent Television Commission (ITC), Oftel (Office of Telecommunications), Radio Authority and Radiocommunications Agency. Its role is to regulate all aspects of the British telecommunications sector. This includes TV and radio broadcasting, digital media, mobile phones and land based telephones. The website provides information on the role of the body and its current activities.

Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission: Decisions, Notices and Orders

A database of Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) decisions, notices and orders (DNOs). Reporting to Parliament through the Minister of Canadian Heritage, the CRTC is "an independent agency responsible for regulating Canada's broadcasting and telecommunications systems." Decisions can be browsed by number and/or by keyword searching back to 1984 for most sections. The site is available in English and French, the official languages of Canada. Website of Legal Talk Network (LTN) a company providing internet radio programmes aimed at lawyers. The programmes are made freely available and can be played on the site using Window Media Player or downloaded in mp3 format. Recent topics covered include lawyer marketing, paralegals, immigrants and the law, legal technology and age discrimination. The radio shows can be browsed by date or topic. A selection of online forums dealing with themes covered in the programmes are included on the site.
