Justice and Home Affairs Council

The Justice and Home Affairs Council (JHA) brings together justice and interior ministers from the EU member states to make collective decisions on justice and home affairs policy; it is one of the configurations of the Council of the European Union. This page of the Council of the European Union's website introduces the JHA and provides links to information about important current policy areas. Dates of forthcoming meetings are also listed.

Criminal Law Solicitors Association

The Criminal Law Solicitors Association (CLSA) was established in 1990 to represent criminal lawyers in England and Wales. The site has legal news stories of interest to criminal practitioners and a directory of CLSA members which can be searched by postcode, name or court. There is advice for the public including what to do if you are interviewed by the police or asked to be a witness or an Appropriate Adult. A CLSA bulletin and a sentencing guidelines newsletter can be downloaded from the site. There is also a page of related web links.

Vera Institute of Justice

The website of the Vera Institute of Justice is an online information resource offering information about the Institute's activities in the field of criminal justice. Its scope is international, though its head office is based in New York. The Institute works with government officials in New York as well as those in other countries and the site describes these working relationships. The site gives details of the many projects the Institute supports dealing with immigration and justice, youth justice, policing, sentencing and corrections and the judicial process.

Centre for Criminology

Website of the Centre of Criminology, a research unit linked to the Department of Public Law at the University of Cape Town. Research at the Centre is focused on African Security and Justice with the two main programmes of work being Physical Security and Environmental Security. The site gives information on the various research projects taking place at the Centre which cover plural policing, urban security and policing and human rights.
