Website of the National Crime Agency (NCA), an operational crime-fighting agency which investigates serious and organised crime in the UK. The site gives information on the work of the NCA and the type of crimes they investigate including cyber crime, fraud, drug trafficking, money laundering, illegal firearms and child sexual abuse. Statistics, suspicious activity reports and other publications are also available on the site.

National Police Chiefs’ Council

Website of the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) the body representing police chief officers in the UK and with responsibility for co-ordinating national policing operations and the national police response to national emergencies. The NPCC replaced the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) in 2015. The site has information about the work and structure of the NPCC and details of its finances, policies and procedures. Details and links to the national policing units and bodies that operate across the UK are also given.

Free website providing a directory of more than 5,000 accredited criminal justice courses available in the United States, together with careers articles and interviews with criminal justice experts from academia, legal practice and the police force. All degree levels are covered by the directory, including doctoral programmes, and it includes a variety of specialisms, such as court reporting, juvenile justice, criminology, counter-terrorism, IT, international criminal justice and legal studies.

Department of Justice and Equality

Website of the Irish Department of Justice and Equality. The site provides information about relevant legislation and law reform work, including the criminal law codification initiative. There are also outlines of Irish law and policy on a range of topics covered by the Department; the Courts Policy page includes information about legal aid. The Publications section of the site provides annual reports, policy reports, bills, legislation and other materials. Statistics, a collection of official forms and information about consultations are also available.

This website provides full text access to the 1999 report of the Inquiry into Crown Prosecution Service Decision-Making in Relation to Deaths in Custody and Related Matters chaired by Gerald Butler QC. There are chapters dealing with the specific cases of Richard Joseph O’Brien, Oluwashijibomi Lapite and Derek John Treadaway and other death in custody cases.

Stephen Lawrence Inquiry: Report of an Inquiry by Sir William MacPherson of Cluny

Full-text report of the inquiry into the police investigation of the murder of the black teenager Stephen Lawrence which was published as Cm 4262-1 in February 1999. Volume one examines the racially motivated murder of Stephen Lawrence in 1993, analyses the police handling of the case including the initial gathering of evidence at the scene, surveillance of suspects and the failure to prosecute the prime suspects. Recommendations for the reform of the Metropolitan Police service and UK police forces as a whole are made in the report.

Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland

This is the official website of the Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland. who investigates complaints of misconduct, inefficiency and corruption made by the public and police concerning the Police Service of Northern Ireland. The website provides access to information on the role of the Ombudsman and his/her current activities. It includes the text of relevant police legislation and statutory instruments, recent press releases, annual reports and research reports on specific investigations conducted by the body.
