Centre for Democracy and Rule of Law

The Centre for Democracy and Rule of Law (CEDEM) is a Ukrainian think tank made up of media and human rights lawyers and policy experts. CEDEM is concerned with the protection of freedom of speech and the human rights of journalists. Its work includes reform of media laws, support to citizens involved with freedom of information cases, and the provision of courses on media law in Ukraine. The Library section of the site provides summaries of Ukrainian media legislation. The site can be viewed in English or Ukrainian.

Full Fact: Law

This page of the Full Fact website provides information and clarification on aspects of the law in the UK and investigates claims made in the media and by government. The site checks facts relating to, among other topics, claims made about hate crime, and clarifies various rules, including those regarding the wearing of burkas and niqabs in the UK. There are articles explaining the World Trade Organisation and the EU referendum, along with sections dealing with Brexit and the law, access to justice, criminal law and family law.

Information Law and Policy Centre

Website of the Information Law and Policy Centre (ILPC) which is based at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (part of the School of Advanced Study, University of London). The aim of the ILPC is to "undertake, promote, and facilitate, cross-disciplinary scholarship and research in the area of information law and policy, domestically and internationally". The Centre produces reports, articles and regular newsletters which are available on the site.

Maldives Department of Information

The official website of the Department of Information in the Republic of Maldives (part of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture), formally the Ministry of Legal Reform, Information and Arts. The Downloads section contains links to PDFs of law and regulations, mainly relating to information and media but including the country’s constitution. Most documents are in Dhiveti, but the constitution is in English.

This Irish law firm website provides commentary on Irish legal developments, in its Publications section. The areas of law covered include company law, banking, employment, European Union, competition, immigration, intellectual property, information technology, litigation, dispute resolution, media and property.

Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport

Website of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), the UK government department responsible for the arts, architecture, design and the built environment, broadcasting, the creative industries (including film and music), cultural property, education and social policy, heritage, libraries, museums and galleries, the National Lottery, sport and recreation and tourism. The website includes press notices, publications, consultations, and results of research. It also explains DCMS policy at local, regional and international levels.

5RB is a set of barristers specialising in media and entertainment law; areas covered include defamation, privacy, breach of confidence, intellectual property, sport, publishing and harassment. The 5RB website provides a collection of case reports, with commentary, which may be searched by key word or browsed by year, party name or topic. It also includes a collection of articles by barristers from 5RB.
