The Direct Marketing Association (UK)

The DMA (UK) is the core trade organisation for all companies in direct marketing in the UK. Formed in 1992, the DMA's aim is to promote and protect the direct marketing industry. Members include advertisers from a broad range of business sectors, direct marketing and telemarketing agencies, and service suppliers from printers and mailing houses to list brokers and database consultancies. The DM Code of Practice can be viewed in the Protection section of the site, but only members can download it. Best practice guidelines are freely available.

Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa

The website of the Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa (ASA) is an online information resource giving information about the ASA's role and practice within South Africa's marketing communications industry. Set up to provide a system of self-regulation, the ASA seeks to uphold its Code of Practice and mediate between the industry and its consumers. The ASA's Code of Advertising Practice is available in full-text on the site. A summary of the Code aimed at the consumer is also provided. There is a section on complaint procedures, as well as recent rulings.

Istituto dell'Autodisciplina Pubblicitaria

The Website of the Istituto dell'Autodisciplina Pubblicitaria (IAP) is an online resource providing information about the organisation's responsibilities and the Code of Marketing Communication. As a founding member of the European Advertising Standards Alliance (EASA), the IAP is committed to advertising self regulation within its own country and the European Union. The site gives the full-text of the Code which governs its members' practice.

Online resource guide offering annotated links to websites in the field of advertising law and regulation. The links are organised into categories including United States, Europe, international, organisations relating to advertising law and links to publications, articles and lawyers covering advertising law.

Advertising Standards Authority (ASA)

Website of the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) the regulatory body set up by the advertising industry to police the rules laid down in the advertising codes. The site gives details about the work and powers of the organisation including sections focused on consumers, advertisers, schools and colleges and new media. There are online copies of the British Code of Advertising, Sales Promotion and Direct Marketing (CAP Code), the Radio Advertising Standards Code and the TV Advertising Standards Code.

Canadian Marketing Association

The website of the Canadian Marketing Association (CMA) is an online information resource that aims to provide information to the Canadian marketing industry on legislative matters in general and self-regulatory policies in particular. The site has a section linking to guidance in the areas of privacy, telemarketing, consumer protection and internet marketing. The CMA's Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice is provided on the site in full-text.

Committee of Advertising Practice

Website of the Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP), the advertising industry's body in charge of the UK advertising codes of practice. The Codes cover broadcast and non-broadcast advertising; they are available on the website, together with information and guidance about self regulation. Reports, consultation documents and newsletters are also available.

ADLAW By Request

Website of ADLAW By Request, Reed Smith's free online advertising and marketing law E-magazine. The site features news, press releases, and feature articles in several sections including In the Courts and International. It also includes links to other Reed Smith newsletters such as Legal Bytes, a monthly publication. You will need to register to access the newsletter in PDF format, but this is free. An archive of Adlaw by Request is also available.
