Absolvitor : Scots Law Online

Absolvitor is a free Scottish law portal produced by Iain Nisbet, a partner at Govan Law Centre. The home page comprises a blog on up to date legal issues, including archive of previous posts, and links to key Scottish government and legal sites. An Articles page gives full text access to articles on a variety of legal topics specially written for the site. There is a Directory of Scottish law firms searchable by name, location or area of law, and a section aimed at law students giving links to Scottish law schools.

Legal Services Commission of South Australia

Official website of the South Australian Legal Services Commission (LSC) which was established in 1977 to increase access to justice by providing free legal advice and legal aid to people who cannot afford private legal representation. The website explains the role of the LSC and gives guidance to claiming legal aid including a downloadable application form (in PDF). There is also information on the Legal Advice Service, courses run by the LSC and a link to the online Law Handbook. A reference guide on applying for legal aid is provided for legal practitioners.

Rights of Women: empowering women to access their legal rights

Rights of Women (ROW), founded in 1975, is a charity providing legal advice and information for women and carrying out policy work and training in related areas. The website gives details of its advice lines and provides factsheets on topics including divorce, domestic violence, parental responsibility, civil partnerships, immigration and asylum and child support. It also includes policy publications and details of training and other events.

Citizens Advice

Website provides information for the UK general public on law and rights relating to privacy, benefits, housing, employment, debt, consumer protection, immigration and other topics. It is produced by Citizens Advice. Where appropriate, users are clearly directed to additional sources of expert advice, so that they can find further help on questions. The site is in Welsh and English.

Law Handbook Online- Victoria

Electronic version of the Law Handbook, a practical, plain English guide to the law in Australia. The Handbook was compiled, and made freely available online, by the Fitzroy Legal Service a community legal centre based in Victoria. The Law Handbook is arranged by topic headings such as dealing with the legal system, families and children, managing your money, fair treatment, buying and selling and dealing with the government. The text has links to external web resources including legislation and organisations, other sections within the Handbook and words featured in the glossary.
