University of Law Blog

The University of Law blog is aimed at law students and anyone interested in legal education or pursuing a career in law. Recent posts provide information on studying at the University of Law with city guides to places where the University has campuses. Other posts look at different types of law firms, finding legal internships, legal research skills and training contracts. There are also posts focusing on specific legal topics eg. public law, entertainment law and sports law.

University of Law Podcast

The University of Law podcast is aimed at law students and anyone considering a career in law. The podcast has interviews and discussions with lecturers, students, alumni and special guests covering a range of topics. Recent series have focused on becoming a barrister, becoming a solicitor, student life and conversations with alumni on progress in their career and advice they would give to current students.

Innocence Project London

Web page of the Innocence Project London (IPL) which is based in the School of Law at the University of Greenwich. The project was established in 2010 and conducts investigations into alleged wrongful convictions of individuals. The work is carried out by law students under the guidance of academic and practicing lawyers. IPL is the only UK based innocence project to belong to the US based Innocence Network.

Irish Innocence Project

Website of the Irish Innocence Project, based at the Law School at Griffith College in Dublin. The Project’s aim is to assist people who believe they have been the victim of a miscarriage of justice and who have exhausted other legal remedies Their cases are investigated by law students under the supervision of qualified solicitors and barristers. There are free articles to download and a blog giving updates on the project and recent cases.

DART-Europe E-Theses Portal

Europe-wide portal to doctoral theses and some master’s dissertations, most of which are available in full. DART-Europe covers all subjects, including law. Users may search by keyword, or browse by university, country, year or collection. The abstracts and theses/dissertations are in many different European languages, including English. The search interface is in English.

LERU Law Portal

Portal to open access legal research material from the law faculties at twelve leading European universities. Launched in 2014, LERU includes details of more than 45,000 doctoral theses, articles, book chapters, conference papers and other documents, many of which are available to download in full. Users can browse by university or year, or search by key words; search results can be filtered by language, author, year and other criteria.

International Law Schools

This part of the WashLaw Web resource guide provides links to law schools around the world. Countries are listed alphabetically and availability of post graduate study is indicated on the list. United States law schools are listed separately. The WashLaw Web resource links are maintained by staff members of the Washburn University School of Law Library in the United States.

Parliament of Canada

The website of the Parliament of Canada provides information about the work, organisation and history of the Canadian Senate, House of Commons and parliamentary committees. Details of current legislation and the work of previous sessions are given. Debates and committee minutes are available from 1996 onwards and bills or acts from 1994 onwards . Other official publications on the site include committee reports and minutes of committee proceedings. There is a directory of current Members of both Houses. The About Parliament section includes historical and procedural information.

Legal Information Institute (Cornell Law School)

The Cornell Legal Information Institute (LII), founded in 1992, provides free access to US federal and state legal material, including US Supreme Court decisions, decisions of the US Courts of Appeals and other federal courts, the US Constitution, the United States Code, state constitutions and statutes (via links to state websites), and state regulations. Secondary materials on the site include 'Wex', an open access legal dictionary and encyclopedia, and the 'Introduction to Basic Legal Citation' by Peter W. Martin.
