Collection of links to resources for the law of Middle Eastern jurisdictions, provided by the Cornell Legal Information Institute, Cornell University Law School. Covers 15 countries. Includes links to constitutions, government websites, some judicial sites, a few collections of laws and other materials relating to the law and legal systems of the Middle East. Most of the materials linked to are in English, but some are in Arabic and some in French.

Public Committee Against Torture in Israel

The Public Committee Against Torture in Israel was founded in 1990 to oppose the use of torture and ill-treatment by the Israeli interrogation and law enforcement authorities. The website is available in English and Arabic. It includes press releases and reports on the use of torture by Israeli authorities and the flaws in the judicial processes involved in addressing complaints of torture. It also features English translations of petitions presented to the Israeli authorities.

Jewish Virtual Library – Israeli Politics

The American-Israeli Cooperative Enterprise (AICE) webpage on Israeli politics. There is information on the formation of a constitution and the structure of the judicial and legislative branches of government. The section entitled Laws and Liberties provides information on freedom of the press, freedom of religion, and background on Supreme Court judgments. The page also provides a link to html copies of the basic laws of Israel.

Israeli law guide

A resource guide explaining the legal system in the state of Israel with bibliographic details of sources and links to materials available on the internet. The guide has been written by Ruth Levush, a Senior Legal Specialist at the Eastern Law Division, Directorate of Legal Research, Law Library of Congress, Washington DC. There are sections dealing with the court system, the legal profession, official statutory and regulatory sources, case law and legal commentaries. References are also made to law journals, online databases and useful websites.

Israel Government Portal

This is the main gateway to the websites of the government of Israel. It includes links to all the main government department websites and the Prime Minister's office. Also provided are links to recent government press releases, documents, reports and statistics; these cover economic, political, social and foreign policy, including the Middle East Peace Process, the official stance towards Palestine and the settlements in the West Bank. There are also guides to studying, working and visiting Israel, elections in Israel and Holocaust Remembrance.

Association for Civil Rights in Israel

This independent, non-partisan Association was seeks to strengthen Israel's commitment to civil liberties and human rights. Its website provides summaries of cases ACRI has been involved with relating to equality, religious pluralism and freedom of conscience, freedom of expression, freedom of information, human dignity and due process of law. It also has information about the Association's projects, education programmes and public outreach services. There are also articles, press releases and reports to download. The site has Hebrew, Arabic and English interfaces.

Knesset - The Parliament of Israel

The Knesset website contains information on the history and role of the parliament, as well as offering a list of its members and committees and an outline of how laws are made in Israel. It also allows provides official documents, including the Proclamation of Independence, the Rules of Procedure of the Knesset and peace process documents. Full versions and summaries of the Basic Laws are available, along with details of elections and other official events. The site can be viewed in English, Hebrew, Russian and Arabic.

Treaty database

Online database of Israel's treaties, on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website. The treaties can be browsed by subject and the name of the country with whom the agreement has been made. They can also be searched by name and date of the agreement. Records provide a description, keywords, state and date of signature. Digital images of the treaties are provided in PDF format. The interface is available in Hebrew, English, Arabic, Spanish, French or Russian; the treaties are in Hebrew, English and other languages.
