Supreme Civil and Criminal Court of Greece

Website of the Greek Supreme Court (Areios Pagos). The English interface has judgments from 2006 onwards, browsable by year or searchable by case number and/or keyword (key words must be in Greek). Historical information about the court is also available in English. The Greek version of the site gives additional information, including press releases, frequently asked questions and a section covering the Supreme Judicial Council.

Athens Bar Association

Website of the Athens Bar Association. Describes the organisation and its work. Provides the Lawyers’ Code, news, recent legislation and other information. The site is entirely in Greek, except for information on the history and background to the Association.

Greek Law Digest: the Ultimate guide to Investing in Greece

Greek Law Digest (GLD) is an English-language guide to Greek law, an initiative of law publisher Nomiki Bibliothiki under the auspices of the government and various business organisations. Intended primarily for foreign investors and entrepreneurs, GLD consists of overview articles by Greek lawyers on different aspects of Greek law, business and finance. It also has a page of legal and business news. A Chinese version of the site is available.

Ministry of Justice, Transparency and Human Rights

The website of the Greek Ministry of Justice, Transparency and Human Rights describes the organisation and work of the ministry and provides information about the Greek judicial and prison systems (including statistics). Guidance is provided for citizens on the subjects of human rights and access to justice.The site also has details of policy consultations. The Greek legislation falling with the Ministry of Justice’s remit is also available on the site and there is a separate section providing a collection of codes.

Hellenic Republic - Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The website of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs has information about the ministry’s structure and officeholders and about Greek foreign policy and bilateral relations. It also gives details of services for citizens, travellers and businesses. Press releases, speeches and statements are available in the Current Affairs section.The Ministry section provides a small collection of major treaties involving Greece, in either English or French. The site is available in English, French or Greek.

Constitution of Greece

Electronic copy of the 1975 Constitution of Greece, amended up to 2008, and made freely available online by the Comparative Constitutions Project at the University of Texas at Austin. The Constitution can be viewed in PDF or HTML formats and includes sections on individual and social rights and the functions of the state including the president, parliament, government and the judiciary.

A Description of the Structure of the Hellenic Republic, the Greek Legal System, and Legal Research

Online resource guide to researching Greek law written by Maria Panezi who is a Ph.D. candidate and a Nathanson Fellow at Osgoode Hall Law School. The guide was published in 2006 and updated in 2021 on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School at the New York University School of Law. The guide gives background information on Greece and an outline of the system of government covering the legislative, executive and judicial branches and including a list of links to government Websites.
