Major Pending Election Cases

This database is a project of the Election Law Program at The Ohio State University’s Moritz College of Law, made freely available online in partnership with the SCOTUSblog website. The database provides case summaries, comprehensive court filings and expert commentary about important election law cases from around the United States. The case tracker can be searched by date, name, state, status and topic. Along with the case summaries there are links to associated court documents. It is also possible to view all cases relating to the 2020 presidential election results.

American Presidency Project

Online archive of US presidential documents, election documents and data, and audio visual material. Includes executive orders, proclamations, State of the Union addresses and messages, inaugural addresses, addresses to Congress, press conference material, veto messages, party convention addresses, election debates and other resources. The archive is hosted by the University of California, Santa Barbara, and covers the period from 1789 to the present.

Justicia Electoral: Custodio de la Voluntad Popular

Website of Justicia Electoral, which is concerned with the administration and legal regulation of the election system in Paraguay, and the Tribunal Superior de Justicia Electoral, the Supreme Electoral Court. These bodies were established under Art. 273-275 of the Paraguay Constitution in 1992. Background information is provided about the structure and role of Justicia Electoral, the Court and the national electoral system. The site provides information about voting methods including electoral registration and accessibility to vote for citizens with disabilities.

Palestinian Basic Law

This unaffiliated website was created by Norwegian journalists Erik Bolstad and Tonje Merete Viken in February 2008. The site provides English translations of past and present versions of the Basic Law and drafts that were not passed. It also links to English translations of the Elections law and Presidential decrees as well as expert opinions on issues surrounding Palestinian elections.

Bangladesh Election Commission

This is the official website of the main electoral body of Bangladesh which is responsible for administering elections in the region. It provides access to background information on the operation of the electoral system, electoral laws and key statistics on votes cast in all elections from 1973 to date. Also accessible is recent news and election results and official government press releases relevant to the topic. The site can be viewed in Bengali with an English interface.

European Commission for Democracy through Law

The European Commission for Democracy through Law, known as the Venice Commission, is a Council of Europe body that was established in 1990. Originally set up to assist Eastern European countries in the re-engineering of their constitutions, it now monitors and provides assistance to countries all around the world and has more than 60 member states. The website outlines the Commission's activities, which include providing advice and training to individual states on constitutional matters, elections and referendums and constitutional justice.

Center for Free Elections and Democracy Belgrade

The Center for Free Elections and Democracy Belgrade is a no-partisan organisation formed in 1997 by professors and student protestors at the University of Belgrade. It seeks to extend democratic government in Serbia/Montenegro (former Yugoslavia). The website provides information on the purpose and work of the center. It provides up to date political news from the region and access to the full-text of some of its publications. The latter include guides and assessments of the current state of democracy and the electoral system in the region, model laws and election monitoring reports.

Congreso de los Diputados

Website of the Congreso de los Diputados, the assembly of elected members of the Spanish Parliament. The site contains detailed information on the function, composition and work of the parliament. It includes biographies of Diputados from 1810 onwards, links to TV webcasts from the chamber, details of legislation passing through Parliament, Biblioteca Digital: a digital library containing all available full-text publications of the parliamentary library (registration is required) Intervenciones: a database of parliamentary speeches and interventions.

Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU)

The IPU is an international organisation of parliaments of sovereign states which acts to promote parliamentary democracy and provides a forum for worldwide parliamentary dialogue. Its website is available in French or English and includes information on the structure, purpose and activities of the IPU. The full-text of recent press releases from the organisation and the text of resolutions are accessible. Also available online is PARLIT, the IPU's searchable database of bibliographic references to books and articles relevant to the study of parliamentary law and practise.

Den norske Helsingforskomite

The Norwegian Helsinki Committee is a member of the International Helsinki Federation for Human Rights and works to promote democracy and human rights within Europe. Its primary activites include the monitoring of parliamentary elections within the OSCE (Office for Security of Central Europe). The website includes the full-text of the Helsinki Committee's reports on parliamentary elections since 1995. These include reports from Albania, Romania, the former Yugoslavia and nations of the former Soviet Union. The text is available in Norwegian or English.
