Website about the Chagos Archipelago, or British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT). Covers the deportation of the Chagossians; the administration of the BIOT; British policy regarding the archipelago; and disputes regarding sovereignty, citizenship, the Chagossians’ right of abode and other matters. The BIOT Administration section includes a substantial collection of BIOT legislation.

FATCA: Citizenship-Based Taxation, Foreign Asset Reporting Requirements and American Citizens Abroad

Online guide to the United States Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), by Andrew Grossman, who is a retired US Foreign Service Officer. The guide was published in 2018 (and updated in 2023) on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law. FATCA requires foreign financial Institutions to report on foreign assets held by their US account holders.

UN Women's Family Law Database

This database maps laws from around the world relating to women’s status in the family and society. Launched in July 2018, it is under development by the Global Women's Leadership Project (GWLP) at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, in association with UN Women. In its first phase the database covers the laws of African, European and Latin American jurisdictions as well as Israel, India and Pakistan; work is continuing on Middle Eastern jurisdictions.

Brexit: The Immediate Legal Consequences

Report on the legal effects of Brexit, published and made freely available online by the Constitution Society. The paper has been written by Richard Gordon QC a practising barrister specialising in
constitutional and administrative law and Rowena Moffatt a barrister practising in public law and human
rights law. The paper focuses on the constitutional consequences of a vote to leave the EU and on the consequences for EU citizenship rights. The Constitution Society is an independent foundation run by academic and practising lawyers.

Service Public fr: le Site Officiel de l’Administration Française

Service-Public fr is the official gateway to the French Civil Service for individual citizens and professionals. It aims to guide citizens on public services available in France at a national and local level. In so doing, it explains rights and responsibilities, and includes a glossary of administrative and legal terms. To aid browsing, the site offers themes (argent, famille, logement, etc.) and a detailed list of dossiers. The tab on justice, for example, offers an accessible and detailed overview of the French justice system.

Shidler Center for Law, Commerce and Technology

Website of the Shidler Center for Law, Commerce and Technology at the School of Law, University of Washington in Seattle, US. The Center was established to provide leadership in teaching, research and policy analysis in the legal aspects of emerging technologies. In its website, the Center places an emphasis on the role of the consumer in the complex electronic marketplace, and focuses on telecommunications and other policy issues relating to the internet and e-commerce.

One Europe or Several? The Dynamics of Change Across Europe

This is the website of an Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) programme which studied several areas of change and development within contemporary Europe. It ended in 2003. The programme aimed to examine " ... contemporary processes of political, security, economic, social and cultural change across the European continent, notably in relation to influences on convergence and divergence within and between European countries and prospects for integration and fragmentation." One Europe or Several?

Sussex European Institute

Sussex European Institute (SEI) is a research centre based at the University of Sussex and a Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence. It specialises in teaching and research in the broad areas European integration, representative politics and the politics of ethnicity, citizenship and migration, taking an interdisciplinary approach. The website provides detailed information on the aims and activities of the Institute. It includes access to SEI working papers (mid-1995 to date), SEI seminar papers (2006 to date) and the in-house newsletter 'Euroscope' (2000 to date).
