ecoi: European Country of Origin Network

Collection of country-of-origin information intended for use by lawyers and others involved in asylum claims, provided by a department of the Austrian Red Cross. Ecoi.net has a page for each country of the world; each page provides key reports and other documents, national laws translated into English, maps and links to country profiles (by the UN, CIA, BBC and so on). Basic and advanced search facilities are available. The site also includes a blog.

Forced Migration Online

Forced Migration Online (FMO), managed by the Refugee Studies Centre (RSC) at the University of Oxford, provides a collection of research resources, a digital library and other information. It has detailed guides to forced migration issues, by country/region and by topic; a discussion list; information about organizations working with migrants; research guides; and details of other projects with which the FMO team have been involved. The digital library includes nearly 6,000 documents: articles from six leading refugee studies journals, RSC policy briefings and RSC working papers.

OutRight Action International

Founded in 1990 to fill the gap between the international human rights movement and the gay rights movement, OutRight Action International (previously the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission) aims to advance the fundamental human rights of gay men, lesbians, bisexuals, trans people, intersex people and people with HIV/AIDS. It combines traditional human rights techniques such as monitoring, documenting, advocating and public policy development with grassroots organising and supporting groups in developing countries.

Statewatch database

Statewatch is a non-profit voluntary organisation which monitors the state and civil liberties in the UK and the rest of Europe. The Statewatch Database contains more than 25,000 records, including news, features, pamphlets, reports, legislation, EU resolutions and agreements, details of UK parliamentary debates and those of the European Parliament and reports on European Court of Human Rights cases. Material less than 6 months old can be accessed free of charge; older materials require a subscription.

Refworld (UNHCR)

A large collection of law and policy documentation relating to refugees and statelessness, provided free by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) since 2007 as a resource for decision-making on refugee status. The database includes country reports sourced from the UN, NGOs, governments, international organisations, academic institutions and judicial bodies, focusing on the country situation and human rights issues.

Eurasylum

Eurasylum is a company that conducts research and consultancy for government departments, judicial bodies, international organisations and NGOs in the areas of immigration and asylum policy. Its website provides reports and media interviews by Eurasylum staff, as well news items and the journal, Migration Policy Practice, from 2011 to 2021.

There is a link to other immigration information, including guidance for aliens who are abused spouses, parents or children of American citizens or lawful permanent residents of the US.

Refugee Review Tribunal Decisions

An AustLII database featuring the full-text of published decisions of the Refugee Review Tribunal in Australia. The system offers a comprehensive search facility, case name search, and recent decisions listing. Data is supplied by the Tribunal in a format edited to protect the privacy of applicants and their relatives. All decisions from 1985 - 1st June 1999 are published. After that date only selected key decisions are published by the Tribunal.
