Website for the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), an intergovernmental organisation made up of 11 member states: Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.  The site provides background information about CIS, including details on its history and leadership, as well as a news section covering current projects and areas of cooperation between member countries.  There is a searchable register of documents containing full text CIS resolutions, treaties and other material dating back to 1991.  Do

Judiciary of Ukraine

Website of the Ukraine Judiciary which provides information on the courts and judicial system in Ukraine. Information on the Supreme Court, High Court of Justice and High Anti-Corruption Court is given although names of judges and other individuals are not currently listed. There’s a searchable database of scheduled cases and legal decisions can be searched using the Unified State Register of Court Decisions. Forms and guidance aimed at Ukrainian citizens are also available. The site can be viewed in Ukrainian only.

Center for Civil Liberties

The Center for Civil Liberties is a Ukrainian NGO established in 2007 to promote the protection of human rights in Ukraine. Its work includes documenting war crimes (part of the 'Tribunal for Putin' initiative) and campaigning for the release of political prisoners. The website provides information about the Center's aims and activities and help for victims of human rights abuses. There is a map of enforced disappearances in Ukraine, accompanied by instructions for the relatives of the disappeared.

Centre of Policy and Legal Reform

The Centre of Policy and Legal Reform (CPLR) is a Ukrainian organisation whose aim is to strengthen democracy, rule of law and good governance in Ukraine. The site has information on the various projects the CPLR is working on which include an assessment of the Ukrainian justice system and a report on state anti-corruption policy. Details of publications are given (some in full text) and a weekly newsletter covers events concerning constitutionalism, political parties and elections, governance and the judiciary in Ukraine. Public Prosecutor of Ukraine

Official website of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine. The Public Prosecutor is responsible for prosecution in the courts on behalf of the state and for pre-trial investigations. The site has profiles of the Attorney General and other senior staff and provides information on the structure and role of the Prosecutor’s Office including annual reports and statistics. There are links to legislation concerning the Public Prosecutor’s office including the Constitution, Criminal Code, Criminal Procedure Code and Civil Procedure Code. The site can be viewed in Ukrainian only. 

Centre for Democracy and Rule of Law

The Centre for Democracy and Rule of Law (CEDEM) is a Ukrainian think tank made up of media and human rights lawyers and policy experts. CEDEM is concerned with the protection of freedom of speech and the human rights of journalists. Its work includes reform of media laws, support to citizens involved with freedom of information cases, and the provision of courses on media law in Ukraine. The Library section of the site provides summaries of Ukrainian media legislation. The site can be viewed in English or Ukrainian.

Legislation of Ukraine

This site is compiled by Verkhovna Rada (the parliament) of Ukraine and provides access to a database of full-text Ukrainian legislation. The database can be searched by keyword, type, date and government department. The New Acts page lists legal instruments by date and issuing authority (Parliament, President, and so on); it can be browsed by date, month and other criteria. The site hasd Ukrainian, Russian and English interfaces, but Ukrainian search terms must be used, as the legislation is provided in Ukrainian only.

Ukrainian Family Law

Website of Ukrainian Family Law, a specialist law firm based in Kiev in Ukraine. The site has a selection of free articles covering a range of topics including divorce, child support, adoption, marriage, annulment and common law marriage. There is also Ukrainian legislation relevant to family law provided on the site. This section includes the Constitution of Ukraine, the Family Code of Ukraine and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Online guide to family law in Ukraine written by staff from Ukrainian law firm A.G.A. Partners and published and made freely available on the Thomson Reuters Practical Law database. The guide gives an outline of the law making reference to key primary sources covering divorce, children, pre and post nuptial agreements, foreign marriages, surrogacy and adoption, cohabitation, civil partnerships and same sex marriage.
