Consejo General del Notariado

Website of the General Council of Public Notaries of Spain, providing information about purchasing property in Spain, wills and inheritance, forming companies, loans, and other subjects. The site also offers a directory of notaries of Spain and a short section on recent legislation. The English-language section of the site gives background information about notaries and brief advice on areas such as starting a company in Spain.

Tribunal Constitucional

Web pages of the Tribunal Constitucional, the Spanish Constitutional Court. The site describes the history and work of the Court. It also provides a database of judgments, a selection of judgments translated into English and the Spanish Constitution translated into English, French, German, Italian, Catalan, Basque, Valencian and Galician. There are English- and French-language interfaces, but most of the site content is in Spanish.

Ministerio de Justicia

Website of the Spanish Ministry of Justice, providing detailed information about the administration of justice, services for citizens and other matters. The Documentation and Publications page, under 'Servicios al ciudadano', includes Spanish codes and laws translated into English and other languages, as well as a catalogue of departmental publications. The site is in Spanish.

Congreso de los Diputados

Website of the Congreso de los Diputados, the assembly of elected members of the Spanish Parliament. The site contains detailed information on the function, composition and work of the parliament. It includes biographies of Diputados from 1810 onwards, links to TV webcasts from the chamber, details of legislation passing through Parliament, Biblioteca Digital: a digital library containing all available full-text publications of the parliamentary library (registration is required) Intervenciones: a database of parliamentary speeches and interventions.

Boletin Oficial del Estado

The Spanish official gazette, the Boletin Oficial del Estado (BOE), publishes legislation. Since January 2009, the electronic version has had official authentic status. The Boletin is available on this website from 1995 onwards. The site also has a 'Legislacion' page with current codes, a database of laws from 1960 onwards and a historical archive of official gazettes from 1661 to 1967.

Gobierno de Canarias

Official website of the government of the Canary Islands. It provides a gateway to government press releases, factual information about the region and its relations with Spain and a directory of links to government departments online. Also accessible are full-text legislation, government policy documents and the official Bulletin from 1980 onwards. All information is in Spanish only.

Consejo General del Poder Judicial

Website of the Spanish General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) which includes information about the CGPJ, the Supreme Court and the High Courts of Justice.There is organisational information, news, cases and details of publications. Information on the individual High Courts can be accessed via a clickable map of the regions. The site is available in Spanish only.

World Law : Spain

Page of the World Legal Information Institute (WorldLII) website containing links to internet resources for Spanish law. The links are divided into categories such as courts and case law, government, introductions to Spanish law, lawyers, legislation and Parliament; additional areas include alternative dispute resolution, civil law, competition law, criminal law, indigenous law, intellectual property and telecommunications. WorldLII was created by the Australasian Legal Information Institute as a public service.

Overview of the Spanish Legal System and Legal Research

A research guide for Spanish law, available on New York University's Globalex website. The guide is written by Olga Cabrero, a lawyer and graduate of the University of Barcelona School of Law, and was updated in 2023 by Esteban Cuyás Caudevilla and Gloria Priego Luqueby. The first part looks at governmental, parliamentary and judicial power in Spain, covers the status of autonomous communities and provides links to relevant websites.
