Karamah: Muslim Women Lawyers for Human Rights is an eduational charity which was initiated in 1993. Karamah seeks to highlight how global human rights issues affect muslims, and supports Muslim communities in America and abroad in the pursuit of justice. The website provides details of the projects Karamah is involved with including one on Islamic jurisprudence and a domestic violence initiative.

Women and criminal justice

Women and Criminal Justice is a journal published by Routledge. It publishes scholarly interdisciplinary and international research, iincluding both qualitative and quantitative studies, for academics and professionals. Tables of contents and abstracts from 1989 onwards are available, and users may register to access a sample copy. Access to full-text articles is for subscribers only, although it is possible to purchase individual issues.

Rights of Women: empowering women to access their legal rights

Rights of Women (ROW), founded in 1975, is a charity providing legal advice and information for women and carrying out policy work and training in related areas. The website gives details of its advice lines and provides factsheets on topics including divorce, domestic violence, parental responsibility, civil partnerships, immigration and asylum and child support. It also includes policy publications and details of training and other events.

Center for Reproductive Rights, The (CRLP)

The Center for Reproductive Rights (CRLP) is a non-profit advocacy organization dedicated to promoting and defending women's reproductive rights worldwide. It focuses on human rights, abortion, contraception, adolescents and female circumcision/genital mutilation. The website provides information about legislation and court decisions as well as publications, press releases and a newsletter; it includes a continually-updated World Abortion Laws map. The site is available in Spanish or English.

Citizens Advice

Website provides information for the UK general public on law and rights relating to privacy, benefits, housing, employment, debt, consumer protection, immigration and other topics. It is produced by Citizens Advice. Where appropriate, users are clearly directed to additional sources of expert advice, so that they can find further help on questions. The site is in Welsh and English.

Avon Global Center for Women and Justice at Cornell Law School

Website of the Avon Global Center for Women and Justice at Cornell Law School in the US. The Center works with legal professionals and governmental and non-governmental organisations to improve access to justice for victims of gender-based violence. Its work includes providing legal research assistance to judges, undertaking project work, providing online legal resources and hosting conferences and events.

Arbitral Women

Website of Arbitral Women, a membership organisation for women working in arbitration and alternative dispute resolution. Members are based in over 30 countries. Contact details and profiles of members are available in an online directory which can be searched or browsed. The "Find a Practitioner" facility enables users to search for members using more detailed criteria including practice area, type of practitioner, country of residence, language etc.

National Women's Law Center

Website of the National Women's Law Center (NWLC), a US-based organisation concerned with using litigation and law reform to improve the lives of low-income women and their families. Policy documents and news items are provided on issues such as: childcare and early education; poverty and income support; gender equity in education; workplace fairness and flexibility; affordable healthcare; reproductive rights; judges and the courts; retirement security and taxation. The site also has background information about the Center and details of its publications and campaigns.
