ecoi: European Country of Origin Network

Collection of country-of-origin information intended for use by lawyers and others involved in asylum claims, provided by a department of the Austrian Red Cross. Ecoi.net has a page for each country of the world; each page provides key reports and other documents, national laws translated into English, maps and links to country profiles (by the UN, CIA, BBC and so on). Basic and advanced search facilities are available. The site also includes a blog.

Migration Policy Group

The Migration Policy Group (MPG) is an independent group based in Brussels which seeks to influence and improve public policy making relating to international migration. Its website provides information on the aims of the group, MPG's programmes and projects, national migration country reports, publications and journals including the 'Migration News Sheet'

Lois sur la nationalité des pays et territoires européens

Table of links to domestic European legislation on nationality and private international law (in the original language), together with links to relevant case law, bibliographies and to translations of the primary or secondary materials. Many European countries and former Soviet states are included in the table. Also includes information about the nationality laws of Mexico, the Philippines and the Republic of Korea. Last updated in 2019, the page is in French and is maintained by lawyer Andy Grossman as a supplement to his book "Lois sur la Nationalité des Pays et Territoires Européens".

Immigration Law Practitioners' Association

Official website for the United Kingdom's Immigration Law Practitioners' Association. The ILPA is the UK's professional association of lawyers and academics practising in or concerned about immigration, asylum and nationality law. The site describes the aims and structure of the Association and terms of membership. Information is provided on ILPA training courses and publications, with notes on Parliamentary lobbying activities and policy on European cooperation.

Workpermit.com

Workpermit.com is a business specialising in immigration advice and consultancy services since 1988. The website provides access to an organised collection of documents and web links dealing with immigration and nationality law. There is free information dealing with immigration rules, visas and work permits for a range of jurisdictions, particularly UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Netherlands, Belgium and Italy. Immigration news and vidoes are also given along with guidance aimed at employers and employees.

Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada

The Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada is an independent tribunal established in 1989 by the Canadian Parliament to make decisions on immigration and refugee matters. Its main concerns are handling immigration appeals and claims for refugee status and providing information on Canadian immigration law. Its website describes the function of the IRB and contains its current press releases and annual reports from 1995 onwards. It also offers updates on current Canadian immigration law and the immigration appeals process.

Electronic Immigration Network

EIN is a voluntary sector organisation providing information on immigration and refugee law. It is aimed primarily at immigration law practitioners and advisors, but it also contains freely available information for others interested in the subject. Freely available resources include links to government publications, news and events information. There are subject sections covering asylum, refugee and immigration issues in Europe, United Kingdom and worldwide. Sections of the site are reserved for members only including case law, legislation and country information.

Justice and Home Affairs Council

The Justice and Home Affairs Council (JHA) brings together justice and interior ministers from the EU member states to make collective decisions on justice and home affairs policy; it is one of the configurations of the Council of the European Union. This page of the Council of the European Union's website introduces the JHA and provides links to information about important current policy areas. Dates of forthcoming meetings are also listed.

First-tier Tribunal (Asylum Support)

Website of the First-tier Tribunal (Asylum Support), the body which hears appeals from asylum seekers who have had support withdrawn by the UK Border Agency. The site has information about making an appeal, what happens at a hearing and a downloadable application form. Reason Statements (decisions) of the Adjudicators are available in full-text on the site and can be searched by date, adjudicator, appeal number or keyword. Annual reports and business plans are available on the site in PDF and there are links to related rules and legislation.
