World Legal Information Institute Catalog : Eastern Europe

This website is part of the World Legal Information Institute's Catalog of websites. Under each country there are standard headings for courts and case law, government, legislation, lawyers etc. In addition there are more detailed subject headings (Banking and Finance law or intellectual property for example) which vary from country to country. It is also possible to search for terms across the whole Eastern European section. Suggestions for new links can be submitted by email. The site is in English, with Babel Fish Translation available.

Gazdasági Versenyhivatal

This is the official website of Gazdasági Versenyhivatal (GVH), the Hungarian authority that is " ... responsible for the supervision of competition ... " in Hungary. The website outlines the purpose of the authority and lists its organisational structure. It includes a section on competition rules applicable to the Hungarian and European Community markets, and other related acts such as business, advertising, and communication. The site contains the decisions brought by the competition council dating back to 1997.

Environmental Management and Law Association (EMLA)

The website of the Hungarian Environmental Management and Law Association (EMLA). EMLA is active in raising public awareness and participation, providing legal advice and representation, developing environmental NGO networks and environmental consulting. The website has information on the history, structure and activities of EMLA, and details of how to join the organisation. Information for researchers on joint projects, internships and use of the EMLA library is provided. Brief details of specific programmes and case summaries are also available, as are copies of EMLA's annual reports.

The Minelres website provides a directory of resources relating to minority human rights and other issues connected with the transition period in Central and Eastern. Official website of the Hungarian National Assembly which is available in English and Hungarian. The site has links to the constitution of Hungary, to legislation and standing orders of the Parliament. There is also information and pictures about the history of the Parliament building.

Constitutional Court of Hungary

Official website of the Hungarian Constitutional Court. The site is available in Hungarian and English and provides information on the organisation, procedures and functions of the Court. It includes the Hungarian Constitution, the Act on the Constitutional Court and the Court's rules of procedure, together with a selection of decisions dating from 1992 onwards. It also has profiles of members and former members of the Court, along with a selection of links.

Introduction to Hungarian law research

A research and resource guide looking at Hungary and the Hungarian legal system, prepared by Zsuzsanna Antal who is Systems Librarian and Deputy Head Librarian at the Central European University Library in Budapest. The author provides an outline of the Hungarian political and legal system, briefly describing the role of the Constitution, Parliament, President, Constitutional Court, Parliamentary Commissioner, central and local Governments, and Judiciary and Legal Profession. The guide references relevant print and electronic sources and materials.
