HUDOC is a free database of European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) cases, decisions and reports of the European Commission of Human Rights, and resolutions of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. It is part of the ECHR web portal. Users may search by case name, respondent, application number, Convention article, keyword, conclusion, date range and other criteria. Documents are HTML, PDF or Word format. The interface is available in English, French, Russian, Spanish or Turkish; the documents are mostly in English and/or French.
The Council of European Municipalities and Regions was established in 1951. It is a federation of national local government associations within Europe who believe that local authorities have a major role to play in European integration. Its official website contains information on the purpose and current activities of the group. This includes a diary of forthcoming events, details of the impact of European integration on local government, publications and information on recent and forthcoming local elections in Europe.
The Committee of Ministers is the decision-making body of the Council of Europe. It directly represents the governments of the member states. The website contains information about the Committee and its work; it includes texts adopted by the Committee, reports, press releases, factsheets and other publications. The Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of Europe is an institution of the Council of Europe. Its website provides details on its functions and recent programmes. It also contains a collection of documents, including the Congress's statutory texts, charters and conventions, minutes of plenary sessions, timetables of forthcoming meetings and the Congress's yearbook. The site is in English or French.
The Council of Europe (CoE) is an international organisation concerned with strengthening democracy, human rights and the rule of law in Europe. The CoE website has information about the history and current work of the Council, including publications, databases, treaties, news, statistics and educational resources.
Online guide to the Council of Europe written by Sophie Lobey of Council of Europe Publishing. The guide was published in 2005, and updated in 2023, on New York University's Globalex website. The guide provides background information about the Council of Europe including aims and functions and a list of member states. The author also gives definitions to other European institutions.
