Council of the Republic of Belarus

Website of the Council of the Republic, the upper house of the bicameral National Assembly of Belarus. The Council is the regional representative body and its main function is to approve or decline draft legislation that has been approved by the House of Representatives. Copies of current draft laws and decrees are provided. There is information on the structure, leadership and membership of the Council with details of members given back to 2000. The site can be viewed in Russian and Belarusian.

National Centre of Legal Information of the Republic of Belarus

The National Centre of Legal Information of the Republic of Belarus was created in 1997. It is a centre for the accumulation, storage, systematisation and dissemination of legal information in both paper and electronic formats. In the field of Internet technology, the Centre has the tasks of: providing free online access to Belarus laws and other legal acts; providing online access to the National Register of Legal Acts of the Republic of Belarus; providing the world community with official texts of Belarus legislation in English.

Online portal to Belarus legal information provided by the state National Center of Legal Information of the Republic of Belarus (NCLI). The site provides an outline of the Belarus legal system and the legislative process. There is government information and news covering Belarus legal developments. Access is also given to the Belarus legislation databank "ETALON" which contains over 12000 legal acts made freely available online in Russian.

Constitution of Belarus

This site contains the Belarus Constitution of 1994. The document is made freely available in English by International Constitutional Law (ICL) at the University of Bern in Switzerland. The Constitution includes sections covering the principles of the constitutional system, the individual, society and the state, the electoral system, legislative, executive and judicial power, local government and state monitoring and supervision. The site also provides other constitutional documents, background information to the Constitution and a brief history of Belarus.

World Legal Information Institute Catalog : Eastern Europe

This website is part of the World Legal Information Institute's Catalog of websites. Under each country there are standard headings for courts and case law, government, legislation, lawyers etc. In addition there are more detailed subject headings (Banking and Finance law or intellectual property for example) which vary from country to country. It is also possible to search for terms across the whole Eastern European section. Suggestions for new links can be submitted by email. The site is in English, with Babel Fish Translation available.

Guide to Legal Research in Belarus

An article offering an outline of the legal system and notes on legal materials for the Republic of Belarus in Eastern Europe. The guide has been written by Nadia Shalygina, Director of the International Law Library in Minsk. The guide was published in 2005 and updated in 2008 on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law.
