Centre for Democracy and Rule of Law

The Centre for Democracy and Rule of Law (CEDEM) is a Ukrainian think tank made up of media and human rights lawyers and policy experts. CEDEM is concerned with the protection of freedom of speech and the human rights of journalists. Its work includes reform of media laws, support to citizens involved with freedom of information cases, and the provision of courses on media law in Ukraine. The Library section of the site provides summaries of Ukrainian media legislation. The site can be viewed in English or Ukrainian.

Brexit

This section of the Institute for Government (IfG) website provides information on a range of issues relating to Brexit including citizens’ rights, the European Court of Justice, the Customs Union, trade and immigration. There are papers that can be downloaded from the site on topics such as how the UK and the devolved governments should work together on leaving the EU, taking back control of trade policy, legislating Brexit and the challenges facing the civil service during Brexit. The site also has blogs written by IfG staff and gives details of events hosted by the Institute.

Legal Resources Centre from Moldova

Website of the Legal Resources Centre from Moldova (LRCM). The LRCM is a non-profit, non-governmental think tank focused on reform of the justice sector and strengthening the legislative framework and human rights standards in Moldova. There is information on current and past projects of the Centre along with detailed reports dealing with justice, human rights and civil society matters. These reports can be downloaded in Romanian. There is also a quarterly online newsletter that can be viewed in English and Romanian.

Brexit Competition Law Working Group

Website of the Brexit Competition Law Working Group a policy group whose members include academics and legal practitioners concerned with competition law. The stated aim of the group is to “foster public debate and inform government policy on implications of Brexit for competition law and policy”. The Group have produced a paper setting out the key immediate and longer term issues the government needs to consider in relation to Brexit and competition law and have organised a number of roundtable events.

Sentencing Project:

The Sentencing Project is an independent US organisation founded in 1986 to promote "reforms in sentencing law and practice, and alternatives to incarceration".The site has sections focusing on sentencing policy, incarceration, racial disparity, offender disenfranchisement, drug policies and women in the justice system. Each section provides access to full text reports, briefing sheets, educational materials and news items. There is a collection of advocacy materials and statistics arranged by state.

Centre for European Reform

The Centre for European Reform (CER) is a UK think-tank that is pro-European in nature, though not uncritical. The website provides information on the Centre's research, events and other activities. It includes details of publications, many of which are available in full-text online, a blog, and extracts from press reports quoting the CER statements. Research topics currently include EU foreign policy, competitiveness, enlargement, EU institutions and the Euro.

Center on Law and Security

Website of the Center on Law and Security a think tank based at the New York University School of Law which brings together academics, practitioners and policymakers in the fields of law and security. The site has organisational information, profiles of faculty and staff and details of courses and publications of the Center.
