This is a charged resource but parts of the guide are made freely available. These sections include jurisdiction chapters which give an overview of employment law in 34 jurisdictions covering terms and conditions of employment, employee representation, discrimination, maternity rights, termination of employment, data protection and employment tribunals.

Handbook on Nuclear Law

Ebook published by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in 2003 and made freely available on the IAEA website. The handbook provides guidance for governments on enhancing nuclear energy laws and regulations. There are sections on radiation protection, nuclear and radiation safety, nuclear liability, non-proliferation and physical protection. The book is presented  in PDF. The IAEA is an international organisation within the UN System.

Global Constitutionalism Seminar

The Global Constitutionalism Seminar is hosted by Yale Law School as part of the Gruber Program for Global Justice and Women’s Rights. This annual programme brings together  Supreme Court and Constitutional Court judges from around the world and Yale Law School faculty members. The website provides free access to the seminars’ ebooks back to 2012 in a range of formats (PDF, EPUB, MOBI and AZW3). Each year deals with a particular theme including governments’ authority, sources of law and rights and litigating climate change.

Clinical Legal Education Handbook

The Clinical Legal Education Handbook is a free open access ebook (PDF). The book is edited by Linden Thomas and Nick Johnson and was published by the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (IALS) in 2020. The handbook gives guidance on how to establish and run student law clinics, the regulatory framework and research on clinical legal education. There is also a section providing resources and document templates covering policies and procedures, checklists and questionnaires.

Liberty library of constitutional classics

The liberty library of constitutional classics is a freely available collection of classic books and other works on constitutional government. Most of the texts are made available in html format, with some texts available in additional formats, including pdf and Word documents. The library forms part of the website of the Constitution Society, a US-based non-profit organisation who describe themselves on their website as “dedicated to research and public education on the principles of constitutional republican government”.

Erskine May

The UK Parliament website provides free access to the current edition of Erskine May’s Treatise on the Law, Privileges, Proceedings and Usage of Parliament, the preeminent reference book on all aspects of UK parliamentary procedure. The book can be searched by key word, browsed by part and chapter, or accessed via the index.

PULP Guide: Finding legal information in South Africa

Online guide to finding legal information in South Africa, edited by Shirley Gilmore and published by Pretoria University Law Press. The guide was updated in 2017 and is designed to assist legal researchers in accessing sources of South African law, explaining how to use the available print and electronic sources. The focus is on South African common law with some explanatory coverage of international and comparative law. The guide is available to download free of charge in PDF format or hardcopies may be purchased from the publisher on request.

Pretoria University Law Press (PULP)

PULP is an open-access publisher based at the Centre for Human Rights at the University of Pretoria. This page provides information on PULP’s publications along with links to free PDF versions. Titles include the most recent editions of the African Disability Rights Yearbook, African Human Rights Yearbook and the PULP Guide: Where to publish articles on the law.

Bibliothèque numérique Cujas

Online library of more than 150 digitised works from leading French law library Bibliothèque Cujas in Paris. The selected titles cover the medieval period and the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. The majority cover the law of France, but 30 are about German law. All the works are searchable by title, author, subject and date; full-text searches are available for some works. All can be browsed by title and filtered by period or subject. They are in pdf format. Most are in French, but some are in Latin or German and the site interface is in French.

Rethinking Music: a briefing book

This publication by the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University consists of papers presented at the Rethink Music Conference in April 2011. The book is on music law and policy, focusing on changes to the music industry brought about by the shift to online music consumption. There are papers dealing with cloud-based music services, music rights clearances and public media and voluntary payment models.
