Regulations of the Andean Community

This part of the Andean Community (CAN) website gives access to the Community’s laws and decisions. CAN is an international organisation, set up in 1969 by the Cartagena Agreement, that established a free trade area between Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. CAN conventions, treaties and official gazettes can be viewed in full text along with decisions and opinions of the Andean Commission. Minutes of the Andean Presidential Council meetings are also given. The site can be viewed in Spanish only. 

Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States

The Organisation of the Eastern Caribbean States(OECS) is an intergovernmental body founded in 1981 which seeks to promote cooperation amongst the nations of the Eastern Caribbean. Its members include Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Montserrat, Anguilla, the British Virgin Islands and St Vincent and the Grenadines. The site provides general information on the purpose of the body, its current activities and basic information about the member states. Details of projects and programmes are given along with documents, treaties and agreements.

Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland

The Chartered Governance Institute (formerly Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators) is an independent, self-regulating professional body, founded in 1891 and incorporated by Royal Charter in 1902. It is the leading professional body for company secretaries and corporate administrators in the public, private and voluntary sectors and acts as the professional forum for members and students worldwide. The website of the UK & Ireland branch contains information about the Institute and details of governance qualifications.

Environmental Treaties and Resource Indicators

Environmental Treaties and Resource Indicators (ENTRI) is an online search service that provides access to environmental treaties and the national resource indicators relevant to those treaties. The service is provided by the Consortium for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN). Subject areas covered include soil quality/conservation, water, sea, marine resources, air, plants, forests, animals, hazardous substances, land use, renewable energy and natural resources.

United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG)

The United Nations Office at Geneva is the largest and most active centre for multilateral conference diplomacy in the world. The main areas of its expertise are disarmament, human rights, humanitarian affairs and trade and economic activities. The site contains links to speeches by the Director-General and a searchable list of press releases, which are available in full-text in HTML and PDF formats. There are also links to the UNOG Library. A further feature of the site is an archive of documents which contains the full-text of key documents such as the UN charter.

SICE Foreign Trade Information System

The Foreign Trade Information System (Sistema de Informacion al Comercio Exterior, or SICE) is produced by the Organization of American States (OAS) as a central source of information about trade policy in the region. The SICE website provides full-text trade agreements, national legislation on trade-related matters, a glossary of trade terms and other information. The site is in English and Spanish.

Chatham House

Chatham House was founded in 1920 (as the Royal Institute of International Affairs) to stimulate debate and research on important developments in the international arena. Its website contains details about the Institute, its members, publications and recent events. Some documents can be viewed online, others are offered to subscribers only. All aspects of British foreign policy and international security are covered, including US foreign policy and the 'war against terrorism' and the Middle-East conflict.

USAID Development Experience Clearinghouse

This is a service by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The Development Experience Clearinghouse is a searchable database containing reports in the field of international development. It contains over 33,000 USAID reports and reports submitted by academic institutions, charities, companies, and various other organisations. The documents are divided into subject categories including: economic growth, agriculture and trade; global health; and democracy, conflict and humanitarian assistance.

Oficiul de Stat pentru Inventii si Marci

Website provided by the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks in Bucharest, a specialised government body with responsibility for the protection of industrial propety in Romania. It contains information on patents, trademarks, industrial design, topographies of integrated circuits and plants varieties. There is a searchable Romanian Patent Database and links to services and publications offered by the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks. Details of regional centres and a list of IP attorneys are available. The site is available in Romanian only.
