Website of the London School of Economics (LSE) Library, otherwise known as the British Library of Political and Economic Science. The Library's collections of social science materials are of recognised national and international importance. They cover politics, economics, sociology, anthropology, government and social policy, worldwide, from before the 19th Century to the present day. The LSE website provides access to the Library's catalogue as well as information about services, collections and facilities.

Institute of Applied Research (IAR)

Website of the Institute of Applied Research (IAR) an independent, not-for-profit research and consulting organisation based in St. Louis, Missouri. The Institute conducts research and provides "... technical assistance services to state governments and agencies and other public service and community organizations". Programme areas include child welfare; child care; disabilities; substance abuse; employment and training; welfare reform; youth, women's and minorities' issues; and poverty.

One Europe or Several? The Dynamics of Change Across Europe

This is the website of an Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) programme which studied several areas of change and development within contemporary Europe. It ended in 2003. The programme aimed to examine " ... contemporary processes of political, security, economic, social and cultural change across the European continent, notably in relation to influences on convergence and divergence within and between European countries and prospects for integration and fragmentation." This list is to encourage academic discourse on the impact of the International Declaration of Human Rights 50 years on. Open to researchers and students, this list seeks to explore current issues and questions of the future relevance of the declaration & to be a general information resource. The site contains an archive of all messages submitted to the list (they are retained for 2 years) which can be interrogated using the free text or keyword search facility.

InterAction : American Council for Voluntary International Action

InterAction is a 'coalition of more than 150 non-profit organizations working worldwide and a leading advocate in the U.S. for humanitarian assistance to the world's poor.' The site includes information on the latest humanitarian emergencies, InterAction's Development Division projects, links to development-related and other external sites, extensive details of forthcoming events, InterAction publications and also access to many of the articles from 'Monday Developments' - InterAction's biweekly publication.

Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies

The Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies, Italy, is part of the European University Institute, and carries out research in Law, Economics, History and Civilisation, and Social and Political Sciences, focusing on European issues, in particular European integration. Its website gives details of current research activities and contains a number of publications and papers which may be downloaded in PDF format, in both French and English. There is also a full list of papers published by the Centre, which may be ordered in printed format.

Academia.edu

An innovative directory of academics and researchers which is being developed by a team headed by Dr Richard Price of All Souls College, Oxford. It intends to provide free access to a database of information about academic researchers and departments in colleges worldwide. Individual records include research interests and information on projects. It is possible to search by department or research interests. The site was launched in 2008 and relies heavily on self registration, therefore users should be aware that information may not be comprehensive.
