Legal Frameworks for Nuclear Activities

This part of the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) site provides information on the legal frameworks for nuclear activities in OECD and NEA member and partner countries. Country profiles cover a range of topics including the regulatory regime, regulatory authorities and advisory bodies. There is information on nuclear installations, radioactive waste management, radioactive substances and equipment, non-proliferation and transport. Links are given to primary legislation and to other NEA publications. The NEA is part of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

International Atomic Energy Agency: Treaties

This part of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) website provides access to treaties the IAEA is involved with. These include international agreements negotiated and concluded by IAEA Member States, agreements to which the IAEA is a party (acting as an international organisation) and IAEA-related treaties which are relevant to the Agency’s work. Subjects covered include nuclear safety, nuclear security, nuclear non-proliferation and civil liability for nuclear damage. Treaties are given in full text in a range of languages in PDF.

Handbook on Nuclear Law

Ebook published by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in 2003 and made freely available on the IAEA website. The handbook provides guidance for governments on enhancing nuclear energy laws and regulations. There are sections on radiation protection, nuclear and radiation safety, nuclear liability, non-proliferation and physical protection. The book is presented  in PDF. The IAEA is an international organisation within the UN System.

International Atomic Energy Agency

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) was set up in 1957 and has its headquarters in Vienna. It is a international organisation within the UN System. The IAEA website provides a wide range of information about the role and structure of the agency and details of its programmes and education/training. It also gives full-text access to publications and official documents: nuclear treaties, reports, country factsheets, the IAEA Legal Series, the quarterly IAEA Bulletin and other material, including digitised older titles from around the 1960s onwards.

Legal Affairs (Nuclear Energy Agency)

The Nuclear Law pages of the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA). The NEA is the OECD body committed to the development of peaceful nuclear energy. The law pages outline the NEA's Legal Affairs' goals and objectives, as well as its programme of work. The "publications" section includes partial access to the Nuclear Law Bulletin, available in PDF in English or French. This bulletin covers developments in nuclear law from almost 60 jurisdictions around the world, including legislation, and legal and administrative decisions. Data is also available.

International Journal of Nuclear Law

Website of the International Journal of Nuclear Law (IJNucL), which is published four times a year by Inderscience. IJNucL is aimed at professionals and academics in the field of nuclear law and provides a forum for analysis of issues relating to nuclear laws and regulations. The journal contains scholarly articles, commentaries, conference papers, news and book reviews covering nuclear legislation, jurisprudence, international agreements licensing, inspection and enforcement, radiation protection and nuclear safety. A sample issue of the journal is available in full, free of charge.

Nuclear Law Bulletin

The Nuclear Law Bulletin, published by the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA), is an international journal covering developments in nuclear law. The Bulletin is published twice yearly in English and French and the online version forms part of the NEA's site. The Bulletin comprises a range of information relating to nuclear law including articles, case law, and national and international legislative and regulatory activities for "almost 60 countries around the world". Apart from the three most recent issues the Bulletin can be viewed in full text on the site in English and French.

Energy - European Commission

Webpages of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Energy, providing information relating to energy policy in the European Union (EU), including statistics and reports, press releases and the Directorate-General's newsletter, "Energy and Transport in Europe Digest" (2002 to date). Details of priced publications are also given. There are links to policy consultations and calls for tenders. Other sections include information and legislation relating to specific energy sources such as coal, oil and gas.
