Canadian Legal Information Institute

The Canadian Legal Information Institute (CanLII) provides free access to a comprehensive range of Canadian primary and secondary legal materials, including federal and provincial laws as amended and as passed, case law, books, articles and reports. The service was created jointly by the Federation of Law Societies of Canada and LexUM, the computer law research team at the University of Montreal. The site is available in both English and French, the official languages of Canada.

Nova Scotia Statutes

The legislation section of the official website of the Government of Nova Scotia provides access to Nova Scotia statutes consolidated to June 2008. The statutes can be browsed by title and viewed in full text HTML. Statutes can be searched using a keyword search facility. A link is given to all statutes in force and not in force from the 1995-96 session onwards.

Access to Justice and law Reform Institute of Nova Scotia

The Access to Justice and law Reform Institute of Nova Scotia was formed in 1991 by the Government of Nova Scotia to act as an independent advisor and review the laws of Nova Scotia. The Commission makes recommendations to improve, update and reform the law involving the general public in the consultation procedures. A full list of publications is available, together with full-text online versions of the discussion papers and final reports produced for each project the Commission works on. Consolidated Nova Scotia Regulations

Website containing an electronic version of the consolidated regulations of Nova Scotia prepared by the Department of Justice's, Registry of Regulations. Most regulations filed with the Registry are available online and may be searched by Act or by Department responsible for administering them. Regulations can also be searched by keyword and displayed in full text (HTML).

Nova Scotia Barristers' Society

Website of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society (NSBS) the governing body for the legal profession in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. The site has information regarding the history and management of the NSBS with online copies of regulations and governing legislation. The site also provides PDF copies of policy documents, forms, guidelines and reports covering professional and practice issues, complaints and discipline. There is information about the discipline procedure aimed at the public along with links to other Nova Scotian and Canadian legal resources.

Provincial Court of Nova Scotia Decisions

A CanLII database including most decisions made by the Provincial Court of Nova Scotia from July 2002 onwards and a selection of decisions from 2000 and 2001. The data is supplied directly by the Court. Decisions can be searched by keyword or browsed by date. CanLII, the Canadian Legal Information Institute, is a key service providing free access to Canadian primary legal materials. The service has been designed by LexUM at the University of Montreal (using software developed by AustLII) on the initiative of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada.

Supreme Court of Nova Scotia Family Division Decisions

A collection of decisions carried by a CanLII database including all judgments rendered by the Family Division of the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia from January 2001 onwards.
