Official gazettes and civil society documentation

Collection of endangered government publications from ten African countries and Gulf states, digitised by the US-based Center for Research Libraries (CRL). Includes official gazettes – which typically publish legislation, government notices, et cetera - from Algeria, Congo Brazzaville, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Somalia and Zimbabwe. Most, but not all, of the digitised content is from the 1950s to the 1990s. The CRL website is in English and the gazettes are in the language of the country of publication.

Arab Labor Organization

The Arab Labor Organization (ALO) is a specialised organisation operating within the scope of the League of Arab States and representing all Arab countries. The ALO develops labour standards setting out basic principles and rights at work drawn up by governments, employers and workers in member states. These legal instruments are either conventions which are legally binding on the states which have ratified them or recommendations which are guidance only – all are available on the site in full text.

World Law: Libya

Part of WorldLII's Countries service covering Libya. The site offers browse and search facilities including links to Legislation, Government and Parliament and subject sections covering Banking and Finance and Good Governance for Libya. A stored search will automatically search for materials relating to Libya on all of WorldLII. WorldLII was created and is being developed by the Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII).

Central Bank of Libya

Official Website of the Central Bank of Libya. The site provides background information about the bank including an outline of its functions. The exchange rates of major foreign currencies are given on the site and the bank's Economic Bulletin provides monetary and banking statistics. Electronic versions of Libyan banking laws regulating the Central Bank are presented in a range of formats and translated into English. The site can be viewed in Arabic and English.

Islamic Family Law Project

The Islamic Family Law Project website is based at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia. The Project surveyed the application of Islamic family law in a selection of countries and explored the possibilities for reform. A regional breakdown of Islamic countries around the world is given on the site, with a profile of each region consisting of historical and religious background, family issues, legal practices and institutions and a list of references.

Libya's Legal System and Legal Research

An introduction to Libyan legal research by John L. S. Simpkins of Charleston School of Law in the United States, most recently updated in 2019 by Mohamed Lafi and Mahmoud Salem Sawan of Lawyers for Justice in Libya. Published on New York University's Globalex website it provides background and historical information on Libya and its legal and governmental system. There is information on sources of law and Libya's membership of international organisations, along with a bibliography of printed sources and links to online legal resources.

Middle Eastern Laws

The Middle Eastern Laws section of the AP Consulting website provides basic information and guidance on business law and procedures in Egypt, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. AP Consulting is a law firm specialising in Middle Eastern Law with offices in the Middle East and Washington, DC.
