United Nations Administrative Law

Online guide to the law governing employment relations and disputes within the United Nations written by Cyril Emery who is the Librarian of the International Court of Justice (ICJ). The guide was published in 2022 on the Globalex website and made freely available by the Hauser Global Law School Program at the New York University School of Law. The author outlines the various sources of law and provides links to fundamental documents, research resources, UN courts and tribunals and legal decisions.

Central Arbitration Committee

The Central Arbitration Committee (CAC) is an independent statutory body of the British government which adjudicates on decisions relating to the recognition and derecognition of trade unions in the UK for collective bargaining purposes. The CAC also provides voluntary arbitration in industrial disputes. Its website provides information on the purpose, membership and statutory duties of the Committee. It also includes access to recent decisions, press releases and annual reports. Information is provided on the process of trade union recognition in the UK.

Canada Industrial Relations Board

Website for the Canada Industrial Relations Board, formed in 1999, and replacing the former Canada Labour Relations Board. The CIRB is an independent quasi-judicial tribunal responsible for the interpretation and administration of Part I (Industrial Relations) and certain provisions of Part II (Occupational Safety and Health) of the Canada Labour Code. The site is available in English and French, and includes a database of summaries of the Board's decisions passed to date in HTML format.

Employment Appeal Tribunal

The Employment Appeal Tribunal (EAT) is the senior court in England and Wales which deals with appeals from decisions of the Employment Tribunals. Its website provides information on the purpose, operation and current work of the tribunal. This includes information on procedure, schedules of forthcoming works and a searchable database of decisions in cases from 1999 onwards. Typical areas dealt with include: unfair dismissal cases, disputes over contacts of employment and sex discrimination at work.

The home page for the Directorate General of Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities of the European Commission. Its mission is to promote a high level of employment and social protection, to raise the standard of living and quality of life, and to promote economic and social cohesion and solidarity among Member States. It also tackles discrimination. These pages provide information and news on the various areas of activity currently undertaken. The e-library contains details of publications, including those of the former DG, with links to many of them in full text.

International Labour Organization (ILO)

The International Labour Organization (ILO) is a specialised agency of the United Nations which seeks to promote employment rights, human rights and social justice. The website gives details of the ILO's history, structure and work programmes. It provides numerous free databases of labour-related information and documentation, including national labour laws, international labour standards, treaty information, statistics and a bibliography compiled by the ILO Library.

Employment Relations Tribunal

Official website of the Employment Relations Tribunal of the Republic of Mauritius. This is a quasi-judicial body which hears industrial disputes and delivers awards. It was created following a merger between the Permanent Arbitration Tribunal and the Civil Service Arbitration Tribunal in February 2009. The site gives history and background information to the Tribunal and details of its members. Details of awards made by the Tribunal can be viewed on the site in PDF or Word for each year from 1995 onwards.

Decisions of the Industrial Relations Court of Malawi

A CommonLII database containing decisions from the Industrial Relations Court of Malawi. Decisions are available from 2000 to 2007 and can be viewed using the system's comprehensive search facility, case name search or alphabetical browse list. Full text documents are presented in HTML. Decisions are also available from the Industrial Relations Court and a link is given to their Website. The Commonwealth Legal Information Institute (CommonLII) is a collaborative service providing free access to primary legal materials from Commonwealth and common law countries and territories.

Labor Law Talk

Labor Law Talk is a moderated United States based message forum focusing on employment law issues. The emphasis is on US law and topics include working hours, pay, discrimination, disability and wrongful dismissal. The site is free to use but you are required to register before you can post messages on the discussion forums. An archive of postings can be browsed by forum and a selection of FAQs provide advice on using Labor Law Talk. The site links to other web resources providing free employment law information.

Recommendations of the Irish Labour Court

Database of Recommendations made freely available by the Irish Labour Court (An Chuirt Oibreachais) an industrial relations tribunal which deals with disputes concerning industrial relations, minimum wage and equality issues in Ireland. All the cases are grouped into 4 categories- dispute type, legislative type, case number and alphabetically by party. This enables you to locate cases by searching or browsing. Dispute type organises cases under subject headings such as overtime, harassment, pensions and working time.
