The journal provides expert analysis of legislation and its impacts on business along with news and reports on corporate environmental management. There is coverage of environmental court cases, company reports and details of the latest legislative developments.

The journal was produced by the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), providing environmental news, updates on environmental negotiations, summaries of key environment and sustainable development meetings, and a summary of recent notable academic literature. In 2002, Linkages Journal became 'Linkages Update', which is listed separately on Eagle-i and available at https://enb.iisd.org/linkages-update/.
The Canadian Institute for Environmental Law and Policy (CIELAP) is an independent, not-for-profit research and education organization. CIELAP's mission is "to develop and advance proposals for the reform of environmental law and public policy." The site provides access to full text copies of articles in the CIELAP newsletter, details of how to become an associate member and a list of publications for sale.
Environmental Treaties and Resource Indicators (ENTRI) is an online search service that provides access to environmental treaties and the national resource indicators relevant to those treaties. The service is provided by the Consortium for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN). Subject areas covered include soil quality/conservation, water, sea, marine resources, air, plants, forests, animals, hazardous substances, land use, renewable energy and natural resources.
Linkages is provided by the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), publishers of the Earth Negotiations Bulletin. 'It is designed to be an electronic clearing-house for information on past and upcoming international meetings related to environment and development policy.' Linkages offers access to several mailing list services, a regularly updated newsletter, as well as channelled views of key environemntal processes, e.g. sustainable development, trade and investment, and human development.
Linkages Update is published online every fortnight and contains information about additions to the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) Reporting Services'Linkages website. Content will focus on environmental news stories, updates on environmental negotiations, brief summaries of key environment and sustainable development meetings, an extensive list of upcoming meetings and a summary of recent notable academic literature. The site includes an archive of issues, dating back to 2002. Users may subscribe to the service and receive the latest Update by email.
The European Union Network for the Implementation and Enforcement of Environmental Law (IMPEL) is an informal network of environmental authorities from the EU Member States and candidate countries, plus Norway. Set up in 1992, IMPEL aims to promote more effective application of legislation on the environment, particularly EU legislation. Current projects concernthe implementation of the EU emissions trading scheme and the application of legislation on the control of industrial pollution .
