Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations: Legal Office

Official site for the Legal Office of the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations). The office provides legal advisory services to member nations, particularly in the areas of legislative and treaty drafting. The site lists member states with the date of membership, publishes news highlights from the office, details of print publications ordered via the site, and occasional papers in PDF format. A collection of basic FAO texts including the constitution, rules of procedure of committees and policy documents are also available.

Agricultural Land Tribunals

Website of the Agricultural Land Tribunals (ALT) which is hosted by Defra. There are seven ALTs in England and one in Wales who are responsible for settling disputes and other issues between agricultural tenants and landlords arising from tenancy agreements held under the Agricultural Holdings Act 1986. They are also concerned with drainage disputes between neighbours under Sections 28 and/or 30 of the Land Drainage Act 1991. A full-text copy of this act can be viewed on the site.

Australian Centre for Agriculture and Law

Website of the Australian Centre for Agriculture and Law, a joint project of the Faculty of Economics, Business and Law (EBL), the Faculty of the Sciences and the School of Law at the University of New England in Australia. The Centre carries out research and special projects for the Australian agricultural industries. Brief details of research projects are given on the site along with news stories relating to the Centre. Links are provided to PDF files of some of the Centre's publications and research papers written or co-authored by the Centre's staff and Research Associates.

Agricultural Law Association

Website of the Agricultural Law Association (ALA) a membership organisation for agricultural professionals including lawyers, surveyors, accountants, bankers and farm business consultants. The site provides information about the ALA along with information and links to the full-text of consultation papers and reports on topics of interest including agricultural tenancy reform and reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). There is a calendar of events, details of the ALA's quarterly Bulletin and a site search engine. Parts of the site are restricted to members only.

International Trade in Agricultural Products: A Research Guide

Online research guide to international trade in agricultural products written by Lee Peoples who is Head of Reference Services at Oklahoma City University Law Library. The guide was published in the features section of LLRX.com in April 2004 and provides an introduction to key sources for researching international agricultural trade law. The guide has background information to international organisations and agreements and to relevant agencies of the United Nations.

National Agricultural Law Center

The National Agricultural Law Center is based at the University of Arkansas School of Law in the United States. The Center conducts legal research, provides information facilities and publishes articles by leading agricultural law scholars. The site has a selection of 'Reading Rooms' which are resource guides to a range of agricultural law topics. Subjects covered include bankruptcy, cooperatives, federal crop insurance, farm credit and the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act.

American Agricultural Law Association

Website of the American Agricultural Law Association (AALA)which describes itself as "the only national professional organization focusing on the legal needs of the agricultural community." The site has organisational information, details of conferences and events and a selection of resource links to other agricultural law websites. A link is given to an online bibliography compiled by the AALA and hosted on the National Center for Agricultural Law at the University of Arkansas School of Law website.

Child Labor Coalition

Child Labor Coalition is an American website which provides educational materials about children working in agriculture. It explains why many children work in agriculture and why it is so often unhealthy, socially isolating or harmful. Using some emotive descriptions, it describes what life is like for many of these children. It gives a good definition of what is child labour and what is not.

USAID Development Experience Clearinghouse

This is a service by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The Development Experience Clearinghouse is a searchable database containing reports in the field of international development. It contains over 33,000 USAID reports and reports submitted by academic institutions, charities, companies, and various other organisations. The documents are divided into subject categories including: economic growth, agriculture and trade; global health; and democracy, conflict and humanitarian assistance.
